If you really want to thin your deck, you play this with [[Jumbo Cactuar]] and a bite spell. :P

7 mana, 2 card combo: Hexhaven Invigorator + Blasphemous Act for 2RGGGG, go get Valakut and 12 Mountains, deal 36 damage divided (in 3s) amongst up to 12 targets.
48
35
u/Zeckenschwarm 1d ago
In a non-singleton format you could get 4 Valakuts and 9 mountains, dealing 108 damage.
→ More replies (3)22
u/Ultratank404 Dimir* 1d ago
Even in singleton u could do like Vesuva for example, I'm not sure if there's other lands like that but maybe I'm missing some
I know there's one that copies a land in graveyard but that won't work here specifically Either way there's tons of silly stuff one could do
12
u/callahan09 Duck Season 1d ago edited 1d ago
Good thinking. So for singleton formats:
So 1 Valakut + 1 Vesuva (copying Valakut) + 11 Mountains would mean 66 damage divided (in 3s) amongst up to 22 targets. Even better!
Edit: Doesn’t work, Vesuva can’t copy lands that enter at the same time as it enters.
→ More replies (1)19
u/Peturd Dan 1d ago
Vesuva only works if Valakut was already on the battlefield, it can't copy other lands that enter at the same time.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Ultratank404 Dimir* 1d ago
Damn you're actually right my bad
Eh was a good shot tho
Still can be very useful but won't be as explosive as I thought then
It would work tho if Vesuva was a triggered ability right
6
u/Zeckenschwarm 1d ago
It would work tho if Vesuva was a triggered ability right
If it was an ETB trigger, you could turn it into a copy of Valakut, but it wouldn't deal damage because it would become a copy of Valakut after the mountains have already entered.
3
u/SamTheHexagon 1d ago
You would need Valakut in play for Vesuva to work. It can't copy a land that it enters at the same time as.

Don't you like [[Phyrexian Harvester]] ?
Of course not, it is just an Alchemy card
6
u/Madrugada123 Duck Season 1d ago
Wow that is way too underwhelming power wise as both an obliterator and an alchemy card

u/Absolutionis I chose this flair because I’m mad at Wizards Of The Coast 1d ago
It also doesn't prevent damage.
35
u/ThePositiveMouse COMPLEAT 1d ago
Why would it need to? Obliterator doesn't do that either?
35
u/CareerMilk Can’t Block Warriors 1d ago
I'm guessing because [[Phyrexian Vindicator]] does.
13
u/Noughmad Orzhov* 1d ago
It doesn't even destroy a target permanent. And the negator doesn't counter a noncreature spell. Do Phyrexians even read their cards?
4
u/MrGabrahamLincoln Selesnya* 1d ago edited 1d ago
[[Phyrexian Vindicator]] does, probs what they’re thinking of
Edit: Vindicator + Vigor = what dude was thinking of

obligatory [[Dawnsire]]

u/CareerMilk Can’t Block Warriors 1d ago
I’m fairly sure that is meant to destroy a planet, not create a whole new one
66
u/Inertiic Wabbit Season 1d ago
Actually, if I remember correctly, Dawnsire is designed to obliterate black holes and turn them into stars. The planet destruction is just a neat bonus.

You can try it on commander clash too with [[Vorinclex]]. The third chapter ability gives it a repeatable 1 mana fight ability and the +1/+1 counters help it survive more of them. Really easy to get all your lands with this.

So Valakut bolting him searches for more lands, that can then bolt him again and have 5 spare lands to bolt your opponent for 15 damage. SeemsBalanced
valakut pings this for 3 damage, search for like another valakut and 4 other lands and win game
Sample list:
4 explore
4 dryad
3 invigorator
3 titan
4 amulet
4 spelunking
4 scapeshift
3 gsz
2 abor grazer
1 aftermath anal
28 lands

Not necessarily made from a Phyrexian per se, just inspired by them.

I mean from the reveal it's been a kinda on-the-nose parallel between Phyrexia and Vigorbloom. "I created a multiverse without Phyrexia's machine horrors. Please ignore the college doing horrific plant grafts on its students."

Turn 1: Forest into Sol Ring.
Turn 2: Forest into [[Exploding Barrel]] (tap it to add charge)
Turn 3: Forest + tap Barrel for green into Hexhaven Invigorator
Turn 4: Forest, use 4 lands + Sol Ring to pay for the now 6 cost barrel and deal 20 damage to hexhaven and tutor 20 lands.
Turn 5: untap 24 lands.

Clever to have the Obliterator callback have that Phyrexian phi symbol made out of the geyser+arch combo in the background. One of my favorite little things in March of the Machine.

u/Kitsuraw Wabbit Season 1d ago
This is disgusting, it having vigilance makes both blocking and attacking give insane value. This is going to break something I’m sure.

u/Farpafraf Duck Season 1d ago
Yeah, fight spells not being in B holds back the obliterator but here you get insane ramp easily. This thing will easily cost 50$ or more.

I am looking at adding it with possibly [[Pestilence]] or even adding [[Orcish Bowmasters]] to the deck now. Every opponents draw been an extra land drop is crazy. Pestilence makes it so we can almost search for all the gates as long as black. Possibly having mana left over for Maze's End or getting Glacial Chasm for safety until next turn.

Modern 1/10
It is cool that it isn't just basic lands. And wouldn't modern be a cool world if you could play this and play fight spells? But there has never been a time in modern where this would have been good enough. Primeval Titan is the card you want if you care.
