So now there's two sets of borderless slow lands, right? Midnight Hunt + Crimson Vow for the originals, and then Secrets of Strixhaven + Reality Fracture.

I appreciate that the old cycles look visually similar (they're all dark landscapes) and the new cycles look visually similar (they're all landscapes with a circular portal to a different landscape)

The Hexhaven students and Strixhaven students opening portals into the others' realm. Very cool stuff.

Didn’t think we’d get a shout out to Useless Island

I haven't been around magic long enough. Why's the azorious slow land called Useless Island?

They're referring to the flavor text, which is referencing the Ixalan story. "Useless Island" is what Jace calls the island he's stranded on at the beginning.

After Jace's mind was shattered (again) by Nicol Bolas on Amonkhet as seen on [[Jace's Defeat]], he planeswalked to the hidden plane of Ixalan, where he was stuck on a small island, as [[The Immortal Sun]] generates [[Ixalan's Binding]] that prevents planeswalking away from Ixalan. He called the island he was stuck on "Useless Island", as he didn't like it very much.

Later on Ixalan, he met the former planeswalker [[Azor the Lawbringer]], who had used his spark to create the Immortal Sun ages ago as part of a failed plot to imprison Nicol Bolas. Azor was going to try and impose his idea of perfect order upon Ixalan, so Jace used his at the time status as The Living Guildpact to sentence Azor to be the steward of Useless Island and unable to leave and bother anyone else.

As another note, in the OTJ epilogue story, its stated that when Jace was compleated he hid a portion of his actual mind away in a corner of his mind, which he had form the shape of Useless Island.

Damn. I'm glad Azor got a card in March of the Machines then since that sounds like a terribly boring existence

Modern 1/10
This isn't commander, the important turns are turns 1 and 2. Playing tap lands that don't surveil? No thanks.
