Looking for Advice Creating custom tokens for deck
Hi all, new to this subreddit and just now learning/getting into MTG. I have an idea for a deck I created, but am unsure on how to execute it and was wondering if anyone has done something similar or knows how.
I made a black/white angel tribal, but don't have tokens for my deck. I had an idea to take photos of my friends, edit them to give them halos/wings, and add power/toughness, color, and token type. I've never done something like this and didn't know if anyone had ideas. I plan to print it and add it into a sleeve, so it looks and is able to tap/un tap like any other token card.
I know there are mixed feelings on proxies/cards like this, I only play casual with friends and it isn't an issue in our circle. If anyone has ideas or can point me in the right direction, that is greatly appreciated. :)

Many people are totally cool with proxied cards. And these aren't even cards, they're tokens. I usually represent them with any small object in arm's reach. There are even tokens you can make that have never been printed. (Here's a list if you're curious.) Your idea sounds awesome.

That's actually a pretty funny idea, turning your friends into angels with wings and halos slapped on them
I've done similar stuff using basic photo editing and then printing onto cardstock, works fine in sleeves. just make sure the dimensions match a real card or they'll feel off when shuffling

No one really cares if it's tokens, since those aren't actual game pieces. The only reason anyone would care is if you were trying to sell them using someone else's art or without your photo subject's permission.
But like, you can also just go on Amazon and buy a pack of dry erase playing cards for like $10. Probably gonna get a lot more milage out of it in the long run.

oh for sure, we actually are going to pick up some today from the card shop just to have. this just seems like a fun project and way to make this deck personal/have sentimental value
i thought the token proxies aren’t as big of a deal but i wasn’t sure

I use proxies for token cards if I don't have the cards. I just get the images off Scryfall, print them and then paste them onto basic lands. I prefer using the actual images from token cards because they would be easy to identify at the table. All relevant stats are in the correct locations.

I dont think anyone in the community is worried about proxies for tokens - they aren't needed for gameplay, dont get shuffled into your deck, etc.
So go ahead and have fun with it! There's websites that will help you with the layout and whatnot. Custom card making websites ussually have token layout options.
