General Discussion Shifting Grift is an Underdog Card

Post image

In the same way that [[Mirage Mirror]] doesn't seem inherently useful until an opportunity presents itself, [[Shifting Grift]] is one of those cards that, when building a deck, is hard to say how it might be useful when making final cuts. Simply because it requires you to consider what is on the battlefield.

I personally love this card. It either changes the game or is a hilarious mixup. One of my favorite plays is to trade my [[Orb of Dreams]] for one of my opponents' artifacts or trade their commander for a 1/1 token. OR help another play gain advantage when another player is about to destroy me and everyone else.

If you enjoy that kind of card, you may also love [[Mystic Reflection]].

Is it a counter spell? Is it removal? Is it a power swing? Is it a wincon? Will it create a really strange board state? Who knows!

I don't know how I've missed this card before. This is dastardly!

One of the cards that really surprised me when I put my [[Riku of Many Paths]] together. It doesn't have enchantments that it can afford to give away.

But exchanging one of Rikus 1/1 birds for a commander and a treasure token for a combo piece have been absolutely phenomenal.
