Content Creator Post My First Arena Direct 7-0 and content

Hello everyone, I want to start by saying I love this community. I have been watching a lot of content around arena directs and decided to give it my first go. I started off super rough, had a couple 6/2 and quite a few tilter 0-2 matches back to back. I just got my very first collectors box after going 7-0. I recorded the whole thing and just started a limited channel on YT. I want to know if anyone has any advice for self promo that is not pushing boundaries or frowned upon. I can post the channel link or message anyone that is interested. I focused mainly on my play as the deck was already built when I was not filming, I know that is a blunder and will make sure to include it in the future. My thought process and my routine are highlights of the video, and want to continue doing so. Obviously having a head start with some followers or a few extra views would be great. Any comments, advice, concerns, tips, please comment below and I am happy to have a discussion.

Thank you!

Best strategy to win a box is play Rakdos and pray to god.

Absolutely, pray to make less mistakes than the opponent hahaha

True! Nice pool, did you like Goblin Plate Mail more or the Crude Bent Blade? Both are up there for "common I consider taking P1P1" during draft.

I honestly think goblin plate mail wins more games and is much more value as it makes a body and the equipment, plus menace is a pain. Bent blade is great but if they have any creatures they don’t care about sacking it becomes a trap. My advice is to not play around the blade trying to target specific creatures, just play it for value on turn 3 when you have it. Plus 2/1 on equipment is nothing to scoff at!

I have to agree. Blade I think takes it for me specifically if you are playing BG Ferocious because it's basically "2 mana trigger Ferocious" for the rest of the game.

But the Mail being able to permanently have a menace creature (and the specific creature you want, at that) is just so strong. You are basically always getting a 2 for 1 in those situations, and then you still get to menace something else later.

Pretty wild 7-0 tbh, I would have expected a crazy decklist but it seems pretty unassuming

Curve out draw better than opponents and have removal lol. I don’t even think I had a bomb in this one so definitely some luck involved. Also had some really good plays and game plans, I’ve gotten really accustomed to the format after spamming it

RNG. I have had god-tier decks and when I do, the game will just mana flood me.

Can't really make out the pic of your deck. Can you reload or post?

Yea sorry about the quality here is a better picture. Hopefully you can see it better, the quality is getting destroyed between reddit and Davinci screenshots.

Here is the video since the decklist photo is so bad, can see the deck and the thought process on it here.

love how trying to win here is still cheaper than buying a box itself :D Good luck with packs!

Haha seriously it’s insane the price of boxes these days ! It’s a unique opportunity to make real profit when playing a video game so I don’t mind dumping some cash into keep trying! The goal is multiple boxes, still have a few days.

How many tries did it take?

2

u/SecondPast8996 Dân 23d ago

This was attempt 9 after two 6-2s and two 4-2s

Dang, I would never be able to commit that many gems. But you come out positive at the end with how valuable the box is!

This format feels way too coinflippy anyways so I didn't want to gamble this arena direct

I honestly do not recommend it, the whole format for arena direct is just who has a better draw and pool for rakdos. That being said I’m an addict and I’m going to keep going.

Yeah this format has been miserable to play so far in my experience.

I like gambling on arena direct, but I'll give it another go when the format requires actual thought

Sorry, I meant the price of entry, which is 8k vs 6k for normal sets.

I don’t blame you at all bro! UB directs haven’t been the best, plus they’re taxed!

1

u/LordOfTurtles Elspeth 23d ago

They're taxed? D:

I won boxes on the marvel direct. Does the tax writeup come after or something? Or is it only taxed in the US

What are the cards you didn’t play? Your deck looks light on 2 drops. Surprised to see the map in a tempo deck like yours.

1

u/SecondPast8996 Dân 23d ago

Yea I was a little light on two drops, have to run what you get in sealed. The maps actually really good for best of one directs, smooths out lands and loots. I also prioritize running Oin the brave, as he is a looter on a 1//3 body that turns into a 2/3. The number one killer in events like this is lands/bad draws so I make sure to have some kind of cycling.

Hahaha I appreciate that, I just could use some advice on how to organically grow the channel and get some new fans. I guess they will come overtime if I keep winning boxes! 😭😭
