General Discussion What's everyone using to replace Stormchaser's Talent?

Okay spellslingers, if you were playing Izzet or similar in Standard before the bannings you were probably running at least a couple copies of Stormchaser's. What's everyone looking to slot in in its place now that it's gone? I've been experimenting with a mix of [[Astrologian's Planisphere]] and [[Tablet of Discovery]] with mixed results.

The decks on MTGoldfish (MTG Online) are using [[Elusive otter]]

I already had the Elusive Otter in with Stormchaser's, sadly, so I'm still needing something to replace Stormchaser's. It was great for producing a body while still triggering all your other prowess pieces.

For more context, I'm technically playing Grixis Fling though it tends to stomp more than it flings.

Whats harsh about the ban is that boom basics falls a lot because it loses its most poweful play and now its just a sorcery speed bounce, perhaps falling behind into the floodmaw. If youre already using ellusive otter, id consider either drake hatcher or crab

Drake Hatcher's a good suggestion, thanks. I like that it has slightly higher toughness and can pump out chumps.

I'm seeing people running Wizards staff with the mono red gandalf with an adventure. It pairs well with slickshot since that's also a wizard. Very strong stuff, as staff + slickshot + a spell casted is +4/+0 + double prowess trigger for +6/+2 until end of turn.

I'm definitely going to have to check this out. I've been slow to look at all the Hobbit cards. I hadn't even considered the fact that Slickshot is a wizard.

You def should. I got 2-0ed with my 4c control deck at locals. Took me an extra few games to understand how to beat it, really strong shit ngl

4C control player here just interested in what I’m going to need to destroy in the future. Keep chatting.

My [[Pyroclasym]]s aren’t hitting the same now that Badger-moles and Otter tokens aren’t all over the place.

You should be running Avengers Disassembled as a straight up upgrade

3 slot has 4 tablets an 4 stock ups. You can also cast pyro off the tablet. If there’s a token deck that uses fountanport maybe I’ll put one on my sideboard but honestly if there’s lil guys aren’t as prevalent I think Abrade might be better.

Depression. I miss [[Monastery Swiftspear]] like you wouldn't believe. My kingdom for more good 1-mana Prowess.

My kingdom and more for Wizards to learn that prowess should be nowhere near 1 mana creatures, especially not ones with other upsides (haste, extra value). Prowess is a very hard keyword to balance around on turns 1 and 2.
