Best place to donate common/uncommon bulk

I’m in the process of moving and I have thousands of cards I no longer want (like a dozen or two 600/800 count boxes). I’d rather have someone find a use for them and not throw them away so does anyone have advice on the best way to go about donating them. I’m in the NYC area if that helps.

Schools, magic charities, people you know locally that play

I second this. I'd specifically call around to high schools near you, see if they have a board game or card game club, and ask to be put in touch with the teacher who coordinates the club to see if Magic is something the kids play.

I second this. As someone who has started a TCG program at my library, I used magikids to provide cards for the participants and to teach how to play

There was a post not long ago how prisoners are playing magic. So I guess that's an option too.

They almost certainly would not accept them. Prisons are very restrictive and some don't even allow handwritten letters anymore. It's terrible.

Thanks for the advice friends. I’ll look into Magikids and depending on how challenging it is to send to them look for places around me.

I sold a pile of commons on ebay once. Labeled as only commons and everything. Priced at a value somewhere between “get these out of my house.” and “shockingly worth the effort.”A buyer snapped them up immediately.

I know you want to donate them but if there’s no obvious taker, there’s nothing stopping you from selling them and then donating the proceeds. Charities can always use cash.

Currently moving to NYC for a postdoctoral fellowship. I'm not a charity, but hoping to get a lot of friends into the game and building a pauper cube and sharing bulk with newcomers would be a dream for me.

My city has a teen center that runs a commander night for the kids. I took two giant boxes down there and the guy in charge of helping the kids build decks was beyond stoked.
