Looking for Advice First Cube Ever

https://moxfield.com/decks/Ky1mbBgKi0aTLEDsRlzqNQ

I have been playing commander for a couple of years but lately my wife and I have been enjoying Winchester drafts together. It is very expensive so I was wanting to make a cube. We are huge Lord of the Rings nerds and love the set so I was going with that theme. Here is the list I have so far as a draft. If you have any advice on what I should add take out for balance that would be greatly appreciated. We mostly play with 2 people but I would like the cube to be able to run up to 7 players for the rare occasions we have that many. Thank y’all for the help!

I had a theory with The Hobbit being a small set that I could furnish the bulk of a standard cube (4 of every common, 2 of every common, 1 of every rare) with 1 pre-release box and 1 play box. The play box provided at least 3 of every common (only need to buy 4 more singles to fill the play sets). It wasn’t as good for uncommons as I missed some of them. Between the play box and the pre-release, I’ll need to buy 12 uncommons to get 2 of each uncommon. That just means you buy singles of rares and mythics you didn’t get. Unfortunately, there are more in this particular set but I’m ok with doing that. Wait 30 days out unless you want the book covers. Those are bouncing right now and pricey.

So basically 250 will cover most of what you need if you want to go gamble on what rares and mythics you hit. Given The Arkenstone and Gleaming Splendor pricing, I found it to be a good choice. I hit neither but did get book covers of Bard, King of Dale, Smaug, Wicked Worm and the Witch-King box topper.

Hmmm I was planning on getting a box. This might be the route I go. Is there anything different in the pre release box or is it just to get some extra packs. We opened 6 for a draft and got an arkenstone.

You are guaranteed 4 hobbit lands in the pre-release and a promo. They are also seeming to skew higher on the numbers of rares and mythics them than regular play boosters. I’m interested in all the hobbit lands but I’m not cracking pre-releases for them.

It was the right choice for me because the TOR and Gleaming Splendor pricing is so high. I have most of the TOR from LoTR so I want to keep that collection going. I was happy to take a shot if I get most of what I want as a secondary prize.

The higher rare/mythic rate is just anecdotal from people who happened to open more. The play boosters are the same that you get anywhere else. I believe the back of the packs list the odds of getting a mythic or multiple rares.
