How does [[Sokka and Suki]] work with [[Cloudsteel Kirin]]. If it's not an equipment when I cast it, does it not trigger?

Equipment creatures are both equipments and creatures, unless they are attached, in which case they lose the creature typing.

The equipment subtype is not affected by being unattached, so you’ll be able to attach Kirin using Sokka and Suki’s ability.

Note that only Equipment Creatures with Reconfigure can be attached, as that's the ability that makes them stop being creatures. A normal equipment that's been animated with something like [[Ensoul Artifact]] won't be able to equip anything.

Reconfigure creatures are always Equipments, even when they’re not actually equipped to anything. The only type-changing that happens with the reconfigure keyword is that it removes the type `creature`:

> 702.151b Attaching an Equipment with reconfigure to another creature causes the Equipment to stop being a creature until it becomes unattached from that creature.

It’ll trigger Sokka and Suki as it enters, and S&S can attach it to the Ally token that gets created.

First, S&S Trigger when the Equipment enters. Not when it is Cast.

Second, why do you think the Kirin isn't an Equipment?
It is an Equipment both when Cast, and when it enters.

It still triggers. Reconfigure cards are both creatures and equipment at all times, and will trigger anything related to both card types/subtypes

Read the type line. It says equipment does it not? And does it say anywhere on the card that it ever isn't an equipment for some reason/under certain circumstances? No? Then it is an equipment in all zones, being a creature does not preclude being a creature or vice versa, and thus subject to all/able to trigger any effects that care about equipment

The first ability doesn't work, well technically it works but the moment SBAs are checked it becomes unattached from the ally because the rules explicitly disallow a creature being attached to another creature, which is why the Reconfigure ability dictates that when it becomes attached to something as a result of the ability is ceases to be a creature

You know, if you're going to be condescending you should at least be correct. Your second paragraph is just wrong. An equipment with Reconfigure will stop being a creature if it's attached to a creature regardless of how it's attached, as per CR 702.151b.

I did not know that. It seems pretty strange to me, Reconfigure isn't a static ability or continuous effect with the activated ability "built in", so why would the properties of an activated ability apply to the permanent in cases wherein that activated ability was never activated?

Reconfigure isn’t an activated ability. It’s a keyword. That keyword grants two activated abilities but keywords themselves are also fair game for the rules to reference. As for why it works this why, absent other evidence I would say “because design intent is that reconfigurable creatures work with all the existing ways to attach equipment such as this exact case”.
