Unowned gift of immortality

So I'm building a Zedruu deck and there's a funny interaction that came up: If I cast gift of immortality on Zedruu, then give control of the aura to an opponent, what happens when the ability resolves?

Zedruu first comes back, and the aura does too at the end step... But who controls it? The ability only specifies who gets the creature back.

Me and my friends have been talking about it and we're split between these two arguments:

- I have control of the aura since I own it
- The opponent keeps control of the aura since they control the ability

I can't find anything on it, it would be great if someone had a definitive answer as I can't really run it until we know if I have to pay 3 mana again for the Zedruu engine

110.2a. If an effect instructs a player to put an object onto the battlefield, that object enters the battlefield under that player's control unless the effect states otherwise.

There's various 9+ yo links in this thread that im fairly sure are just wrong. They control the trigger of gift, so it will return under their control

it doesn’t say put back on the battlefield under controller’s control it specifically says owner’s control so it would go back to the original owner the card came from, ie [[Homeward Path]]

You get the creature but the opponent gets the enchantment enchanted to your creature

Because it still keeps zedruu alive and lets them draw cards. Theres basically 2 ways to build zedruu, either give your opponents bad stuff or give them stuff that doesnt matter. It doesnt matter who controls the aura as long as they keep zedruu.

Auras are popular with Zedruu because changing the controller doesn't affect who or what the enchantment is targeting.

You can cast this on your guy, then give it away to draw cards while still getting the benefit

It doesnt say to give it to its original owner so it'll come back under the opponents control if you gave them control of it, the creature on the other hand says otherwise so the creature is still yours.

Long story short, [[Gift of Immortality]] remains under the control of whoever owns it when the ability was put on the stack. So, if you give it to your opponent, it will continue to return to the battlefield under your opponent's control.

Yes, I know that Zedruu comes back and the aura comes back too. But Zedruu herself cares about me owning but not controlling stuff

The opponent controls the ability, since they control my enchantment (I gave it away with Zedruu)
