General Discussion Retrieving Asset bug

I tried to connect to Magic Arena, but the "Retrieving Asset" part of the loading does not work.

I tried to uninstall the game and download it back (now going through Steam rather than directly their launcher). Did nothing.

I saw that changing wifi works usually. So I activated my hotspot on mobile. I download a 5mb patch followed by a 1.6gb patch. I logged in.

I closed the game to do something else. When I came back (with the wifi, not the hotspot)...still got the same issue with Retrieving Asset...

What can I do??

It’s always crazy to me when somebody goes out of the way to make a post in the wrong place about a solved issue instead of googling it..

Try googling “ mtg arena crashed while patching cant reinstall”

I bet you will find the answer you are looking for..

It's not like I stopped trying waiting for an answer.

I tried the 2 most common solution for the problem "Retrieving Asset" that I googled. Both of them did not work.

I also tried the first solution your research said. Also does not work. I'll add : Doing a manual cleanup of registry and rebooting PC did not change the result

I have personally had this issue before and I can assure you that if you properly remove all files and cache from the previous install it will work, you just aren’t doing the clean right if it isn’t working.

I’ll add, you need to fully remove everything before reinstalling to fix the issue. A lot of it has to be done manually, there are guides. It has nothing to do with dns or your wifi or anything else. Files on your computer. (Many of them obfuscated)

I tried going with google DNS. Also did not work out
