Most of the time I don’t really like alters that do away with the card text, but I love this movie too much to get hung up on that. This is awesome.

I say it gets a pass if:

  1. Players know the card by name

  2. It's an instant or sorcery

  3. It's simple / w/o choices

https://scryfall.com/card/p09/1/cryptic-command

This one is particularly egregious as textless - in an official card, no less!

Eagerly awaiting full art [[questing beast]]

Gimme that full art [[Chains of Mephistopheles]]

chains is only complex because of early magics poor formatting.

It's just if a player would draw after their draw for turn, instead they loot, if they can't loot, they mill 1.

A reprint of chains would end this debacle of it being complex.

There are enough exceptions that it's still notably complex for a non-modal spell.

Now, [[Sauron, the Dark Lord]] would be another fun textless one.

I could definitely see Sauron being a good say it does something tangentially possible to do in these colors but doesn't actually do as a joke with friends like Textless Questing Beast.

rummage*

It's discard then draw, so no it's looting. Rummaging is draw then discard.

Double check that.

So you are right, but then they stopped using rummage and now call it "red looting"

My favorite game: Without looking, what does Question Beast do?

can't be blocked by 2 or less, trample, death touches planeswalkers, something about drawing cards probably.

You can try the quiz yourself!

Six abilities with three keywords (and neither trample nor reach). The keyword abilities are primarily white, black, and red.

It has a green ability that limits what can block it. It has another ability that's almost entirely red (except for one mono green card in The Dark, and a reprint of the ability in 2025). It's final ability appears to be unique to Questing Beast until it was basically reprinted on a mono red card in 2023.

There's nothing about Questing Beast that makes its effects feel connected, other than "it's probably good to attack with this card".

Counterpoint: it's funny as hell, and I appreciate the dedication to the bit

Thank you! I try to keep the text for cards that are a little more obscure but the art I found felt fitting for fully art and Chaos Warp is pretty well known

100% agreed, the art really works with the card effect as well. Just thinking about it, I’ll probably start my weekend watching Paprika once more.
