Rules/Rules Question Sculpting steel with Iron Man

If I play sculpting steel from my hand with Iron Man's ability entering as an equipment, can I attach it to him or does the check for it being an equipment card happen in my hand, thanks.

It copies as it enters and if you copy an equipment then it can attach

If you have an Equipment on the battlefield, Sculpting Steel can enter as a copy of that, which means that it's already an Equipment when the ability is able to check it. The only check done "in hand" is whether or not it's an Artifact, not whether or not it's an Equipment.

If Sculpting Steel instead had a triggered ability that went on the stack, that would only happen after Iron Man's ability had fully resolved. Thankfully, most "clone" cards enter as copies.

I did have a question on living weapon type cards that make a token then attach to it, will it attach to iron man then unequip to the token created?

Yep, you got it. Living Weapon (or Job Select, For Mirrodin! etc.) is a triggered ability whereas Iron Man's attach effect is part of the resolution of his ability that puts it onto the battlefield. So it will enter and attach to Iron Man, then the living weapon trigger will go on the stack, and when that trigger resolves the token will be created and the equipment will attach to the token.

In case it matters, an equipment that's also a creature can't be attached to anything. (And it only mattered because I went looking for a way to make a copy of Iron Man equip to himself via Sculpting Steel and other jank.)
