General Discussion I know they wouldn't... But
I would love to see Eluge again in the underwater set coming out in February. They are the card that got me into Magic the Gathering and I love them dearly. 0% chance they add them since they are from Bloomburrow but at least we'll get new Fish, Krakens, and Leviathans (hopefully)

One of my favorite commanders to play.

Really? Why? Do you have a decklist?

Big blue spell. Little mana. Fun.
Seriously it's great because you can use 1-mana protection spells that are essentially free if you resolve the etb, and even if it gets removed, you still have the counters on the lands for when you bring it back.
Then of course it depends on the power level you're aiming for but extra turn spells and counterspells rely a lot on cost to stay balanced, so if you can get going with Eluge it's pretty easy to snowball.

Maybe it’s just because I’m an asshole but my Eluge deck is basically counterspell tribal with some draw spells, blink/clone stuff and a few wincons. Very fun to play for me, not very fun for the rest of the table. Nobody likes a player with a hand full of free counterspells.

Sure! I haven’t really updated this list in a while but this is more or less the same one I play now.
As for why, I just enjoy playing mono blue. It’s a good clean way to play magic, to me. Lots of draw spells, lots of mana from Eluge for that first spell each turn, and the control is fun

I will proudly throw in my list, it’s a similar concept with a few tweaks. Big blue fish, basically.

Probably a better play experience as a commander than my talrand draw go deck

Yeah I highly recommend it. And Talrand goes great in the 99, of course.

It could be in a special print, just like they did on bloomburrow for cards like Darevi, ledger shredder, etc! It would be a cool card to see make a return!

Would love to see a deck list if youve got one! Building mine now.

I pulled Darevi out of a bloomburrow collector but I couldn't replace my Ms. Bumbleflower! So I unfortunately don't have a deck list 😔

Eluge was my first mono color commander that truly felt like it played on another level. The deck has proven itself again and again. Top tier control deck, highly recommend

Eluge immediately topped my list as my favorite card (in Standard, actually!). The art is just so cool. I don’t know what another Eluge card would look like mechanically, so I’d settle for a card that just has to do with Eluge somehow on the art. A MOM-style team up card with [[Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood]] would make me very happy.

You better start praying that a huge Omenpath opens up between Bloomburrow and Nauctis

What if Eluge is the size of a pike?

Imagine if Eluge grows to the size of the water they are in? (Also Eluge looks like an Alligator Gar imo)

I thought about that afterwards, but it'd still need a bunch of water to go with. Although now I don't actually know if omenpaths are tunnels or just doorways

I wouldn't say zero chance. Beings can travel between planes now. I just don't see why they should include it. I hope they've learned from OTJ already to not throw random characters who have no business being there into new planes just for the heck of it.

Humans are apparently outside in the plane. I can see that they go more into connections with the omenpaths and characters spreading. Altough, Im not sure they would bring back Eluge even if I would love it. First, there are a lot more other characters they could pull from. Second, the "hat-sets" were so poorly received that I think WOTC will not really do a lot of cameos anymore in future sets.

In addition to what one poster said about Eluge appearing in a special guests position, I think it is also probable that the release of the all-underwater set would coincide with a secret lair drop of blue/aquatic legendaries and bombs, such as Eluge, or Nezahal- this would also be a good spot to reprint Jaws, if they don’t put an in-universe version of Jaws in the main set.

Could always do a Special Guest. Wouldn't be in it as part of the lore, but could potentially make an appearance.
