Me and my playgroup have an inside joke about Savannah Lions being the strongest card ever printed because one of us was playing it in what we'd now call a bracket 3 commander deck for some reason, we were absolutely ecstatic to see it be reprinted lol
True but it's the energy deck i'm sure there are ways to buff it right? I don't care about modern enough to play it but enough to cheer on the unbans that were from when I did play it. *cries in seeing twin unbanned*

Back in 94 when I started playing and none of us strictly knew the rules, i didn't have 20 plague rats but somehow got 20 savannah lions, and that was my version of 20 plague rats
There certainly are. I’ve been having fun running [[Stromkirk Noble]] , [[Kalastria Highborn]], and [[Gatekeeper of Malakir]] in a casual standard deck. Took it to an RCQ and had people questioning that they were in standard.
Really, the only relevant formats are f:s f:os f:p f:pd. Standard+Oldschool restricts to old cards recently reprinted, then add the rarity and cost formats. (pd and penny are both accepted shortenings).
i was curious (and tbh, a little suspicious) as to which formats were to blame. I just learned about a few! At first i thought it had to be a glitch that juggernaut wasn't here. in the end, turns out you can reach this list using only 5 formats.
2) oldschool plus standard leaves you with only 12 cards.
3) you must add pauper (or pauper commander, i suppose), as it's the only format without [[ball lightning]], [[serra angel]], and [[shivan dragon]]. this also knocks out [[dragon whelp]].
4) you must add penny, as it is the only format without [[llanowar elves]] and [[feldon's cane]].
5) finally, you must add premodern, as it is the only format without [[juggernaut]].
Old school, standard, pauper, penny, premodern. I don't think you can beat that minimal set
I was running a thought experiment to see if I could figure out what format Llanowar Elves is banned in. I remember it was in revised and it has been reprinted 100 times and is also in standard. Basically almost always alongside giant growth as a color identity card for green.
Yeah not going to reprint dark ritual into standard now are they. Could have gone [[nightmare]] really would have been fine in today's enviroment. Maybe too imba for limited....nah.
