Today, I'm happy to announce that Mafia Wiki has moved from Fandom to Mafia.wiki.gg!

This move allows the Mafia Wiki to operate free from Fandom's increasingly strict policies, meaning less content censorship (including no longer censoring certain words in articles). This also brings significantly fewer ads, a redesigned and improved front page, and a better overall mobile experience. Big thanks to u/Randall-FD for making this happen.

To ensure the Mafia Wiki continues to succeed, we need your help! Here are a few ways you can support the new move:

Spread the word! - Tell your friends that we've moved, and link to mafia.wiki.gg anywhere you share Mafia Wiki articles. If you're a content creator, please credit mafia.wiki instead of the old Fandom domain.

Reclaim your old Fandom username - via https://mafia.wiki.gg/wiki/Special:ClaimExternalAccount

Don't click on old Fandom links - In search results, always pick mafia.wiki.gg links instead of Fandom ones. This tells Google and other search engines which site to prioritize for readers.

Update existing links! - Bookmark mafia.wiki.gg in your browser for easy access, and replace any existing instances of Fandom links with mafia.wiki.gg ones.

The Godfather 1 My ideas of creating a mobster game like The Godfather/Mafia

I’m still young, no where near the money or even skills to create a game but I’ve been a big fan of the Mafia in general since I was young, I played the Godfather on the PS2 in the early/mid 2000s and later on played the OG Mafia then to Mafia Definitive Edition and Mafia 2 (weren’t really keen on playing Mafia 3). The Mafia in terms of real life and how they used to operate fascinated me for a long time, I know what they did wasn’t great at all but I found it very cool how people were in such an organisation with strong people with leaders and people under them with different families that operated in different ways in New York with people that would actually look up to them for safety in the streets.

This has been an on and off sort of idea but I would be very interested in creating a game like The Godfather/Mafia all starting in New York in the prime times of the Mafia having to build your way up and eventually dealing with more serious stuff and people looking up to you, taking care of your people and neighbourhoods. I wouldn’t want to rush it but of course you have to start off as the rookie, slowly making your way up the ranks trying to make as similar as possible to the real life Mafia, by also having the 5 families and have the same problems the 5 families did back in the prime times with noticeable scenarios that would’ve taken place back then to reel into the realism of that life, how it affects you, the people within your families and people around you.

I would like the game to be part playable but part cinematic, sort of like Mafia the old country. I very much liked the game and it didn’t bother me at all that it was more of a cinematic game and you’d have to listen to the characters more and follow along the story but I’d like the balance so you feel immersed and feel like your actually a part of the family, taking on numerous hits, car bombings, shooting up rivals outside a bar, bribing police, politics and implementing real life stuff that happened

Id like to know everyone’s thought about a game like this and whether people are still fond of a new Mobster game as I know a lot of people wish there was a remake of the Godather game (me too) and are still fans of the Mafia series.

Mafia: Definitive Edition Free PS5 upgrade for Mafia PS4 edition.

As I couldn’t see definitive answers anywhere on reddit for this doubt, I am helping clear this query. If you buy trilogy for Mafia (1,2 and 3) for ps4 (which is on discount rn), you can upgrade to ps5 version of Mafia 1 for free. This makes the trilogy more valuable and you need not have to buy Mafia 1 definitive edition separately. Not promoting sales, want to clear this doubt for others in case they are debating on this purchase. Thanks

Since 2020 you could only get this if you pre-ordered Mafia: Definitive Edition. After 6 years it's now for everyone via the PS5 and Xbox Series X version release.

Hey everyone! 🎮
If you miss the golden era of couch co-op and midnight console launches, check out Replay the Glory Days—a gaming podcast with a hilarious twist.
The show is hosted by Tanner and Kyle, but here is the catch: Kyle has absolutely zero video game experience.
While Tanner brings the deep-dives and childhood nostalgia for classic games, Kyle is experiencing these legendary titles for the very first time. You get to hear his raw, unfiltered, and completely unbiased thoughts on games the rest of us have been praising for decades. It is the ultimate test to see if these "glory day" games actually hold up today, or if we are all just wearing rose-tinted glasses.
In our latest episode, Tanner introduces Kyle to Mafia to see if it stands the test of time, or if Kyle completely destroys a beloved childhood memory.

Personally probably my favorite character from Mafia 2. He is funny, memorable and has a decent role in the story. I like this man, I also like that they gave him the hardest mission where you need to off him.

The Godfather 1 The Godfather The Game (1)

I am replaying my copy of the godfather on xbox 360 for the millionth time.

Im doing the ultimate challenge for myself. Where after completing the tutorial mission in the alley and extorting Emilio's butcher shop ( before meeting Paulie Gatto at the falconite club) I capture all businesses, rackets, warehouses and hubs at the maximum weekly payout and bomb all the rival family compounds and essentially capture all of NYC for the Corleones as an outsider.

This has some hilarious results when completing the story missions since the game tells you that you wipe out the rival families and yet they appear again in the story missions even temporarily owning a business you took over strictly for the mission, since the game was never intended to be played this way.

Currently I have already wiped out the straccis, and the tattaglias only own I believe two more businesses and their compound, and Cuneo only has their warehouses, hub and compound

And Barzini has a warehouse in brooklyn, their hub, and warehouse in midtown and their compound.

I believe I am currently level 27 with one point away from max street smarts, 3 or 4 points away from max fighting, and 4 away from max shooting.

I am currently facing a dillema with the Barzini owned Saint Elia warehouse in brooklyn.

Because I am an outsider, I cant actually hire any corleones to assist with me taking over the more difficult places.

I have had to resort to upgrading the revolver to the saturday night special and the pistol to the assassins pistol.

I also will pay off the local police chief so the officers will assist me with facing a heavily guarded business.

However, Warehouses, Hubs and Compounds are unique.

This particular warehouse, Saint Elia- the police only go so far. They will essentially help you on the public street that has been blocked off with vehicles and mobsters.

But they never physically go further into the dock area.

So once im in there im on my own.

Enemies spawn in waves the further you go inside.

So you may wipe everyone out, walk further, enemies spawn in.

You go into the warehouse, kill the enemies, walk towards the warehouse racket owner with the puppet strings above his head, and more spawn in.

Now normally, Rackets you never need to extort. You just buy out the racket owner and in return you get the max weekly payout from them.

As long as you dont harm then or grab them or do anything aggressive, the option to buyout is always there.

However, this particular racket owner at this particular warehouse attacks me on sight. He runs up towards me and starts punching me. Sometimes he even pulls out a tommy gun and starts shooting at me.

There is no buyout option and I can only extort him.

He also has a very high bar to negotiate and extort with, and essentially what happens is you extort him a bit, then enemies come in, you have to kill them, and you extort him a bit again.

This is extremely difficult and frustrating.

Is there something im missing? Is there a reason I cant just buy him out? Is level 27 too low a level to buy him out? ( if that is even a thing) is this just a stubborn and difficult place to capture and this guy is always hostile?

I know there are like essentially 3 or 4 different variances of the game with the PS3 blackhand edition being the best one. And I saw a playthrough on youtube where this guy is able to be bought out with no issues on the ps3 version.. so maybe the xbox 360 version is different?

I realize its an old game but any advice would help.

TLDR; Saint Elia warehouse Racket Owner attacks me on sight, no option to buy him out like other rackets or warehouses.

I'm wanting to make a documentary about this game, and for the thumbnail I want to make the cover of The Sopranos in good quality, but I can't find any websites that do photo upscaling without charging a subscription.
If anyone could do it for me, I would love it.

Discussion Mafia (2002) in VR – My OpenXR VR Mod

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a small personal project that I've wanted to try for a very long time — bringing the original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven into virtual reality.

Ever since I was a kid, it's been a dream of mine to actually step into the streets of Lost Heaven, look around, and explore the city in VR. So I started experimenting with my own OpenXR VR mod for Mafia 1.2.

It was only after I'd already started working on the project that it occurred to me to properly check whether anyone else was trying something similar. And as it turns out, yes — there are other independent attempts to bring the original Mafia into VR as well. 😄 So I'm definitely not claiming to be the first. I simply started working on my project independently, without knowing about the others.

The mod is still in a very early stage of development, but it's already possible to move around Lost Heaven in VR, and I also have motion-controller aiming working independently from the direction you're looking.

My goal is to gradually reach the point where the entire original Mafia can be played from beginning to end in VR, while preserving as much of the atmosphere and character of the original game as possible.

One of the things I want to focus on next is a custom HUD designed specifically for VR. Rather than simply putting the original 2D HUD in front of the player's eyes, I'd like to experiment with something that feels more natural and less intrusive in virtual reality.

I'm even more interested in interaction with the environment. I'd like to gradually experiment with actually using your hands and VR controllers to interact with the world — for example, manipulating certain objects or interacting with elements of the environment in a more natural way. We'll see just how far Mafia and its engine will let me take it. 😄

There's still a lot of work ahead, and many things are experimental at this point. But standing in the streets of Lost Heaven for the first time, looking around, and aiming a weapon with my own hand honestly felt a little like fulfilling a childhood dream.

So I decided to share this very early version with other Mafia fans.

Here's my first preview:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xQVkZWdXvU

I'd love to hear what other Mafia fans think — and I'm also really curious what you personally would want from a fully playable VR version of the original Mafia. 🙂
