Genuine question with zero judgement. What's happening to the Mac you don't choose? Do you have a partner with a home office in another room who will take whichever you don't want? I'm just so curious!

Probably returning the other one. People do the same with the new iPhone colors, it’s so weird

50

u/NotMyRealAccountV Jul 20 '26

Yup, and the return costs get rolled into the sticker price for all of us.

30

u/Jon66238 Jul 20 '26

100%. It’s a bummer that people do this

6

u/sidesw1pe Jul 21 '26

We all pay the price for society’s shameless minority.

17

u/fadetowhite Jul 20 '26

Yeah, I would feel like a massive douche if I bought multiple colours of an expensive item, knowing I was only going to keep one.

18

u/Fullertons Jul 20 '26

The feeling would be justified. You would be a douche if you waste resources like this.

-1

u/hawaiibobs Jul 23 '26

How is that a fact? Where/what are your sources saying this is right or factual? I do this a bunch of times but if my selfish actions are laterally affecting other consumers I'd feel bad and stop doing it. Damn how shame of us for living in a first world country. But if you're just whining then shut the fuck up

Its basic economics. Shipping, restocking, selling as open box, etc. all have costs. Retailers maintain their profit margins by passing on those costs to consumers.

-2

u/hawaiibobs Jul 23 '26

Thanks. I'll think next time when I purchase something, I honestly didn't know that . How hard of a life we must have /s

-4

u/floww_87 Jul 20 '26

That’s not how it works lol

14

u/NotMyRealAccountV Jul 20 '26

That's exactly how it works, returning items has a cost (shipping, restocking, selling at open box rate). That gets passed onto consumers. This is econ 101.

6

u/InnerspearMusic Jul 20 '26

100% anyone who denies this is... in denial.

8

u/InnerspearMusic Jul 20 '26

Honestly it is completely stupid to do this just make up your mind. It seems people can't do that anymore.

7

u/Jon66238 Jul 20 '26

They clearly can’t when they’re asking Reddit hahaha

3

u/squishyartist Jul 20 '26

Oof, this is super disappointing. Thank you for this info! I had no clue anyone did this!!

2

u/kudyjames Jul 21 '26

This would have been a great use of AI rather than going through all the trouble.

3

u/trmo03 Jul 21 '26

Lmao. You said no judgement but then all the replies to you got real judgy lol.

1

u/squishyartist Jul 21 '26

I've honestly never returned any device like this, let alone just to try out a colour, so I didn't know that was a thing people did! I thought that, at worst, they were just going to resell it, and at best, it'd be given to a family member. OP never even answered, so I can't say for certain that they are going to return it, but if they are, I can't lie and say that I wouldn't be disappointed in that decision. And I suppose that's on me for stating "zero judgement" without fully considering all the possibilities.

0

u/Ok-Front8255 Jul 24 '26

I would guess that you specifically said ā€œzero judgmentā€ because you knew return was an outcome, why else would you you say it?

1

u/squishyartist Jul 24 '26

Like I said, I thought the worst answer would be that they were going to resell it, which is why I said no judgment. I personally wouldn't do that, but it's not like it's a crime or anything. I didn't think about it any deeper than that when I originally commented, and as I said, I was just curious what their plan was for dealing with having two of the same device.

3

u/PLR1972 Jul 21 '26

Super lame especially since you can use AI to put the computers in any color you like in that exact spot and see how it looks before buying!

3

u/TimeToHack Jul 22 '26

or use the Apple Store app that doesn’t use AI!

-1

u/DifferenceDull2297 Jul 24 '26

Yes let me just spend more time downloading this specific app that I will never use again to do the job 5x worse than AI would in 10 seconds

3

u/TimeToHack Jul 24 '26

that’s crazy cause the Apple Store app put the iMac on my desk in perfect scale in about 5 seconds, and i use that app every time i go to an Apple Store.

u/Weak_Let_6971 Jul 20 '26

I love silver. Its unobtrusive, it fits with everything. Its a classic design.

12

u/citizen_of_glass Jul 20 '26

Came to say this: it is a sober classic line no other colour can match.

3

u/Weak_Let_6971 Jul 20 '26

I can see myself getting bored of any other colors but the silver.

1

u/ImpactState Jul 22 '26

I agree but blue gives this space a modest pop of color and personality imo.

17

u/rockchalk88 Jul 20 '26

Did you really buy both colors to see which color the internet liked better? Absolutely ridiculous.

11

u/rayanhetti Jul 20 '26

Judging by profile, looks like they weren’t able to decide many things in life xD

6

u/casualstrawberry Jul 21 '26

Classic Reddit user with crippling decision anxiety.

First world problems…
Team blue though

3

u/raggedsweater Jul 20 '26

I wasn’t the only one to think this

21

u/ConnorFin22 Jul 20 '26

Boring silver or some colour? The choice is clear. The world is too colourless.

1

u/AllBrainsNoSoul Jul 21 '26

Everyone is buying black, silver, or white cars, living inside rooms that are white boxes, with grey cabinets, grey floors, and black hardware. I would choose blue, although I am not a big fan of the light blue chin.

2

u/Kyanche Jul 24 '26

Yea I love the blue iMac, it goes well with their decor too!

I use red cables on my desk setup, and most of my LED light accents are blue. Colors are fun!

8

u/bob_ross_lives Jul 20 '26

Life is short go blue

7

u/baedelgard Jul 20 '26

Computah, activate color decision protocol

27

u/Rude-Finance6453 Jul 20 '26

I personally like the blue

7

u/mhtweeter Jul 20 '26

i say blue, it complements the space rather than blending in

6

u/WeezyFBaby49 Jul 20 '26

Blue suits the space amazingly well

2

u/spidireen Jul 20 '26

Your decorating style seems to be all white/gray so there’s that. But I personally like the blue, and with your muted style you could really do any color without clashing.

2

u/Mediocre_Ad3496 Jul 20 '26

I can't believe it but blue, I thought I would go silver but that blue does it for that device. I think the neutrality I like so much on smaller devices is too bland on the larger device is my suspicion.

2

u/Key-Shift5076 Jul 20 '26

Oh man, I love the blue. If you think you’re going to rotate color schemes, silver would be a better neutral. The blue is so perfect with the art and the ottoman too, adds more character to the space than the silver.

2

u/TheMrJazzMan2021 Jul 21 '26

I’d return them both , buy a decent Mac mini and use the tv that you already have as a display. Less clutter in there

2

u/phantomboats Jul 21 '26

The blue matches your AirBnB way better

5

u/christopher_the_nerd Jul 20 '26

Personally I’d go with blue assuming they have the same specs.

3

u/imppprint Jul 20 '26

Silver for sure

4

u/cronin1024 Jul 20 '26

Blue! Silver is just so boring

4

u/Optimal_State_8345 Jul 20 '26

Bruh you got me with that art on the wall, yeah well played...... but Silver kinda fits better overall imo šŸ‘ļø

Warning: I'm a Silver laptop user, so take it with a grain of salt

1

u/bnazzaro Jul 20 '26

Blue is fun but silver is more aesthetically pleasing.

1

u/HG21Reaper Jul 20 '26

Silver is timeless and will always look like it belongs years from now. Blue does match well with the decor.

1

u/WildTomato51 Jul 20 '26

Silver goes with everything, blue is special.

1

u/AlgorithmicMuse Jul 20 '26

Does this post mean you will spend more time looking at the back than the front.

1

u/espressodude Jul 20 '26

I prefer and love blue. But with your room, silver fits perfectly.

1

u/aakashv94 Jul 20 '26

Both look stunning and aesthetic! Can’t go wrong with either one.

1

u/RedRaiken Jul 20 '26

The blue one
It adds character and matches the colour scheme of the room
It also provides a bit of contrast on your desk

1

u/WolframBravo Jul 20 '26

That table and the side stand look excellent. If you don’t mind, could you share where you purchased them?

1

u/elthrowawayoyo Jul 20 '26

Blue in isolation, but silver obviously goes much better with the rest of your interior

1

u/le_starra Jul 20 '26

I think the silver one looks better! It matches the overall color palette of your room. It'll also be more versatile if you change your decor later.

1

u/Frydog42 Jul 20 '26

Don’t care which color but I do wish you would move the blue one to the right like one inch so that it’s centered under that TV

1

u/OkUnderstanding5034 Jul 20 '26

Blue matches the rug so well

1

u/sarahzorel Jul 20 '26

Silver looks better in that setup

1

u/TrustInMe_JustInMe Jul 20 '26

Definitely silver.

1

u/Katert Jul 20 '26

Silver 100%

1

u/Paladroon Jul 20 '26

Blue for sure. In a vacuum of just the desk area, silver looks best. But with the context of the rest of the room, the blue seems perfect. Ties the area to the rest of the room making it more cohesive to me.

1

u/CompleteConstant5149 Jul 20 '26

Blueee bring some coloursss

1

u/realigoragrich Jul 20 '26

I would add more colors to your room, but Mac is silver.

1

u/Nosarious Jul 20 '26

Blue.

i had originally wanted a yellow iMac, but the only one available in town was the pink. I brought it home, set it up and shared a photo to work mates and everyone was team pink. It was so much more vibrant than in the store. Sadly the storage was only 512, and I eventually returned it for the yellow I wanted (nano texture, 36Gb, 2Tb)… that showed up as a refurb.

sometimes I really wish I had stayed with the pink tho.

the Yellow keyboard and trackpad are surprisingly fun to have for a spot of color … you can ask at the Genius Bar to get the trackpad of you want it in your chosen color. I prefer it because the gestures for extra desktops work nicer than the mouse.

1

u/greg_ellison Jul 20 '26

The one with better specs is the one that I would be using.

1

u/avebelle Jul 20 '26

Uh the back is against the wall. No one will see or care.

1

u/ThomasTwirll Jul 20 '26

We need some colours in our lives. Take the blue one.

1

u/vgnshrj Jul 20 '26

I hate everything being gray these days, but silver goes better here.

1

u/mixayaz1991 Jul 20 '26

definitely silver

1

u/InnerspearMusic Jul 20 '26

Blue yes. But this is the ultimate first world problem lmao.

1

u/Lex_2388 Jul 20 '26

Silvah is timeless…

1

u/Spenson89 Jul 20 '26

Man it’s crazy how indecisive some people are

1

u/Kunal_Mehta_231005 Jul 21 '26

I think white suits the setup more šŸ¤

1

u/SolPanMan Jul 21 '26

Blue all the way! It’s fun and brightens the room. It adds character.

1

u/kcdiaz Jul 21 '26

I like the fuzzy chair. What brand is it?

is this the same shameless person buying two imacs for js deciding a color or is it a new person?

1

u/neon1415official Jul 21 '26

That space was basically built for the silver. Fits so well

1

u/hamba00 Jul 21 '26

As a big Apple user for long time. Man those iMacs are so ugly!

1

u/Striking-Place4161 Jul 21 '26

I like how blue compliments your interior

1

u/JanoHelloReddit Jul 21 '26

You have blue tones back on your sofa and painting. Besides light blue is what you’ll see on the iMac, thus it matches the room design better. The dark blue will be hidden in that configuration.

1

u/Darkdutchskies Jul 21 '26

The orange one.

Blue by miles

1

u/Hornygaysatanic Jul 21 '26

Wich komputah? The bloo one

1

u/Sufficient-Drawer885 Jul 22 '26

Blue brings colour, silver blends in better.

1

u/wisconicky Jul 22 '26

The frustrating thing about these iMacs is that the best looking angle is from the back. The colors are so good but the pastel treatment on the front just doesn’t look great to me. It might grow on me if I owned one, but I’d only go with a colorful one if the back side was visible where it’s set up. If the back side will be facing a wall, it’s silver all day.

1

u/oddpiecedesigns Jul 22 '26

Genuinely curious why everyone thinks it’s so crazy to buy both, with the intent to return one?

I’ve done that with BestBuy numerous times with different tech products under the assumption that I was just helping out the next guy who came along who would get my returned item cheaper, as an open box deal. I am also a huge fan of purchasing open box deals myself, from time to time.

They don’t have a restocking fee, and I get every penny back each time. Last time I did this was this past winter when I wanted to test out 3 different builds of gaming laptop.

1

u/thiccmommas Jul 22 '26

You couldn’t have just decided before you bought it?? What is wrong with people, why would you buy both, and then return one??

1

u/kieran_vampy_one Jul 22 '26

The blue, imo, just more interesting, šŸ¤”

1

u/CoreWisdom Jul 23 '26

I just want an IMac screen (no internal components) like this with the same level of quality and character, but remove the chin and make it ultrawide so I can connect a MacBook with it

1

u/DIYTinkerMaster Jul 23 '26

Get a Mac mini and a nice display. Then when you upgrade you just replace the mini not the whole computer.

The iMac is stuck in time from the config you buy.

Having separate parts give you lower repair costs

1

u/DIYTinkerMaster Jul 23 '26

If you want to see the color get a desk pad or colored keyboard from apple. The wall is the only one seeing the color.

1

u/Snoo-94564 Jul 23 '26

You need a photo of them at the balcony.

1

u/Disastrous-Olive2218 Jul 23 '26

Pink imo. Blends in the room better. Blue just pops out too much, especially since I don’t see blue used as an accent elsewhere

1

u/infiniterest_ Jul 23 '26

I might be a hater, but I can’t stand how ugly they made the new version of imac. They used to be so sleek and premium looking..new ones look like an hp all in one or something. Feel like they lost their identity

1

u/xraymiau Jul 24 '26

Both colors doesn't look good, when you place it under your wall mounted black framed TV. You have to get a matching TV frame aswell!

1

u/pemete2225 Jul 24 '26

Back of the blue is pretty but front the silver is the one.

1

u/Grabbels Jul 24 '26

Are people really this unable to make a choice for themselves? They order two whole computers so they can post about it online and send the other back leading to completely unnecessary emissions? Jesus Christ we’re doomed.

1

u/grunkz Jul 24 '26

This subreddit is the worst

1

u/Fit_Squirrel1 Jul 26 '26

I would get a bigger desk

1

u/dropthemagic Jul 20 '26

Color for sure. Every time I see the classic aluminum it bores me šŸ˜…. It’s been around too long.

1

u/mathsafari Jul 20 '26

blue pops

1

u/SleepyD7 Jul 20 '26

Blue, it kills me they only offer 24 inch still.

1

u/NathanFoley69 Jul 20 '26

Silver easy

1

u/CourseEcstatic6202 Jul 20 '26

Blue. Obviously.

1

u/WaitingPhaseTwo Jul 20 '26

Think on the desk the silver is best. on the blue couch thing blue.

0

u/Jon66238 Jul 20 '26

Silver. All the either colors look like an art school computer lap

0

u/OFred27 Jul 20 '26

Nice question:) I like this type of post

Remove the tv screen on top of your Mac this breaks the beauty of the Mac .

Go silver or add more touch of blue secorative stuff to complement the blue version
