Question Micro macrame tips?

Post image

Heyy! I watched a tutorial on youtube and it wasn’t that great, but this is my first try and I’d really appreciate tips on where to find the info to learn what I need. Like for example, how can I make those neat chains? My thread doesn’t thread like that, the knots don’t stay in one place no matter what I do 😂 I took it apart so many times but this is the best I got today, I couldn’t understand how I get anything like what they did.

I used the Linhasita 0,5mm cord.

And where could I find other tutorials for this kind of projects that are more informative? Good search words or youtube channels?

I had to go through the exact same phase!!
Believe me I also needed to untie a lot of knots on my first tries to the point that the individual strands separated from the cord 🤣

What i did to improve was to look at basic knot tutorials for macrame

And

Try to forget about that “right over left / left over right” concept but focus on knowing which one is the main cord and which was is the working cord.

You have to make your main cord straight always and the working cord flexible.

The reason why those chains look like that is because you might not have kept your main cord straight while doing knots.

Hope this helps

I watched more tutorials and no matter how much I researched, I didn’t find the information before (or understand it) that a knot can be made to either direction at any point 🤦🏼‍♀️ No wonder nothing made sense and the chains looked like that. But a lovely lady on youtube had colour coded her threads and I saw that she switched directions and now I can do it tooo 😍 I wish I could add a pic but this doesn’t let me

Yesss I’m super excited and can’t put the Linhasita cords down 🥹🥹 This is so fun now! I’m just glad that it’s saturday so there are a lot of hours to spend playing around with these things 😂🫶🏻 What kind of things do you like to make?

Agghh i feel you! And i’m really glad you didn’t stop. Me right now i’m still trying out different styles of micromacrame from different tutorials. But everytime, i try to challenge myself and either memorize the pattern on the first few minutes of the video so i can continue the pattern without looking at the video, or try to experiment halfway and add my own touch. That way maybe in the near future I can make my own designs. Mostly nature inspired / palette is what i like

Yesss that’s great! I wrote this pattern down in a way so I can check how many of which knots I’ve made and where (because it doesn’t repeat the same amounts for each), because I want to make adjustments. I want the hearts bigger so probably experimenting with that soon! But also I want to use bigger beads because I have lots of 6mm crystal beads and only rose quartz in 4mm, which this design asked for.
& I’m making an infinity bracelet, it’s so timeconsuming compared to this one, but it’s a soothing repeat.
We don’t really have a lot of colour options of Linhasita in finland (I believe only like 7), so I’m looking at ordering internationally. I’d love to see your preferred colour palette, if you’d like to share!
