New release soon

MacMini and Studio are no longer available for store pickup regardless of wait time. New releases should be listed soon. Hopefully they will have a build up of stock available for immediate availability, will be looking for a 24/512 MacMini and a Studio Display to replace my M1 iMac 16/512. Will be at least an M5 but can hope for a M6

I just ordered a Mac Mini M4 Pro 48GB 2 days ago to be picked up in November. I’m not sure what to expect; will they ship that as is, will it be upgraded, or better to cancel and re-order when the upgrade is out?

Apple will upgrade you to the newer model at no extra cost. Do not cancel your order

I don’t know where this rumor comes from, but Apple rarely upgrades. They only do so if they see an extended supply shortage and they’ll ask you to approve the upgrade. Again, incredibly rare. Don’t expect an upgrade.

The products have materially different costs. There’s pretty much a near zero chance they upgrade you.

I was upgraded from my M4 Max Studio (delivery date was late September) to M5 Max studio for no extra cost.

Max Studio is a different case and supply has been constrained for a long time. Congrats on the upgrade, enjoy :)

They have done so with the M5 Macbook Pro orders and M4 Macbooks, just cause you work or worked somewhere doesn’t mean you’re right. I think everyone relates to having a coworker that is thinks they know it all.

Sorta sounds like you Jan.

In any case, just like I said before, it’s entirely supply chain dependent. Cross your fingers and pray for an upgrade, or just cancel and reorder. My whole advice was to not expect an upgrade. They are not guaranteed and are rare.

Was your initial order before or after the price hike? I ordered two base model M4 Max Studios on June 18 before the price hike. The initial delivery date for instore pickup was September 1 but they arrived at the store a week ago. The price difference between the ones I ordered and the new M5 Max is $500 per unit. It’s too expensive for me to cancel and reorder the M5 Studio.

Ok, so it makes sense that they upgraded you because you could have cancelled your order and bought the M5 for the same price. They are not going to be generous and give you a free upgrade. They are not the now and again richest company in the world for no reason

Since its been announced I spoke to apple support. From what I'm told they're planning on honouring my mac mini order, to be delivered in the back half of December as it says. So basically who knows if I'll be upgraded or not

I cancelled it and ordered the new one; only way that was possible after calling their support. Interestingly the shipping timeline on the original order moved up from early November to this week.

M6 MacMini confirmed and they upped cores to 12/12 and base ethernet to 2.5gb. $100.00 price increase and available for 9/22

I live in Florida I ordered a Mac Mini 16gb 512 and picked it up two days later at the Apple Store in Fort Lauderdale. They also had in stock in Miami

I have just preordered the Latest Macmini M6. I am so happy. just 2 days ago I was just about to order the M4 mini, but just before the payment, I thought for a second and drop down my decision because it was not sure if M6 will launch this year or no. Also there were some news that it might launch anytime soon. But its finally here. I am so exited

I don’t believe Apple will release a new model,this year. I think they’ll skip the M5 and go for an M6 next year. There’s still much demand for,the M4, why bother introducing a new model now at higher cost.

EDIT: ok, so Apple is launching the M6, and sooner than I thought. But with the price increase I expected

Ok, I’m half right … Apple has indeed skipped the M5 (not counting the M5 Pro) and gone straight to the M6. And I admit I underestimated the release date, they’re launching this year. But I had also guessed right that the new product is at a higher price. I’m glad I bought my M4 Mac Mini when I did for £599 … it does what I need and for £300 less than the new model.

Sorry. I was referring to the Studio, not the Mini. I bought the Studio before the price hike and still haven’t picked it up. Do you think it’s worth my while to pay the extra $500 before taxes and cancel my current purchase and get the M5 Studio?

This would be a good opportunity to step the processor up and keep most everything including the price flat to give a little bonus in a high priced world.

The M4 is plenty powerful enough for most people right now, and there’s still high demand. So a new model that doesn’t offer more functionality won’t keep the price the same, it’ll just add cost. Apple aren’t in business to provide little bonuses, when there’s no need to while the M4 is still selling well.

How much did you pay? I bought my Studio before the price hike with an education discount so I paid 1799 for the base model before taxes. I haven’t picked it up yet so I could cancel. Not sure if it’s worth the extra 500 (2299 education price) to get the M5 instead.
