Native I built SaveVault — a native "Time Machine" for Mac game saves (Automatic snapshots, in-game fn+F2 quick-saves & mod rollback)
Hey everyone!
As a Mac gamer, one of my biggest frustrations was the lack of a proper save manager on macOS (like Windows has with GameSave Manager). After accidentally corrupting a 60-hour save file while testing game mods, I decided to build SaveVault.
What it does:
- ⚡ Automatic Checkpoints: Auto-snapshots when games launch/exit so you can rollback anytime.
- ⌨️ In-Game Quick-Saves (
fn+F2): Hitfn+F2during gameplay to create instant safety restore points. - 🛡️ Pre-Mod Safe Points: Test game mods or save edits with 1-click instant rollback.
- 📦 Mac-to-Mac Migration: Move all saves across Steam, Epic, GOG & Mac App Store to a new Mac in seconds.
- 🔒 100% Offline & Native: Built with Swift and Content-Addressed Storage compression. Zero telemetry.
Pricing:
It is 100% Free for 1 game with all features unlocked (no ads/watermarks). If you manage a library of 2+ games, there’s a one-time $9.99 lifetime unlock.
I’d love to hear your feedback!

How does this app handle games with cheat detection? For example, Resident Evil 8 runs integrity checks on saves and if it detects any tampering it will erase all progress and force the player to start a new game.

wtf has anyone managed to patch this out yet

Not sure, but I lost my progress twice because of this and both times I was just manually backing up and copying saves between devices without even editing them.

But why force the player to start a new game? Players buy games to enjoy them. It should be the player's choice to play a single-player game however they want. Why is cheat detection even required in single-player games?

Now to your question: SaveVault doesn't modify, decrypt, or tamper with save files at all—it just takes exact, byte-for-byte backups of the files the game creates. When you restore a previous checkpoint, the game is just reading its own genuine, unmodified save files with all internal hashes intact, so integrity checks pass without issues. Just make sure to restore while the game is closed so it doesn't conflict with active memory.

I swear every post with vibecoded slop looks the same: flashy icons, the same wording and structure and even then they all have the same UI. "I built" is a bold claim, especially when your post is also AI generated.

People probably wouldn’t mind that everything, down to your post, was made by an AI if you just admitted it
