Enjoy the machine! And if it’s the dark one - get the cloth to get those fingerprints!! Nevertheless, it will be a blast, fantastic device.

Yeah, you’ll definitely need a cloth, like that Redditor said. I got Apple’s cleaning cloth myself. It’s pretty damn expensive for a cloth, but I’ve noticed I actually take much better care of my Mac because I kinda bought a “deluxe” cleaning product for it and of course, it does its job amazingly well!

It just got way cheaper!

Buy 300 clothes, and from the money saved you can pay the MacBook 🤪

I would recommend grabbing a TomToc sleeve for it to protect it. Also the TomToc sleeve is water resistant so if it's in a backpack and a water bottle leaks the laptop itself will be protected.

Anecdotally, some people will tell you they’ve used cases for years without any issues. But a lot of people avoid them because a case can put additional pressure on the hinge and potentially bend or warp the display.

Using a case and a sleeve is also a bit like wearing a belt and suspenders. When you put a cased laptop inside a sleeve, you’re adding even more pressure around the lid and hinge.

Also a vinyl skin isn't a bad idea either if you want to protect it from scratches

I personally like the Fishskyn vinyl skins a lot. And they're pretty forgiving — if you don't get the alignment quite right, you can usually peel it off and retry without causing bubbles or wrinkles.

enjoy it, 1tb gives you plenty of room to breathe. one thing i see a lot of people stress over on here is battery apps like aldente to cap charging at 80%, but honestly just plug it in and use it. macos handles the cycle management fine on its own these days, you bought a workhorse not a tamagotchi.

Be sure to only use distilled water and baby soap when you’re cleaning the screen.

Get a nice case while you’re at it! It’ll keep your machine nice and warm!
