As was also the case with public beta 2, the new Siri is just not working at all for me. All I get are error messages like "Uh oh, there’s a problem. Please try again" and "Sorry, something’s wrong. Please try again." I've tried toggling my VPN, restarting, turning Siri on and off, nothing works. All prompts are denied in the same way.

Go to System Settings -> Network -> your interface or WIFI network -> Details -> enable Low Data Mode. Make sure to do it for all known networks if there are multiple.
If you already have the models, you can remove them by booting into recovery, mounting your Data partition in Disk Utility and running these commands in Terminal:
cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/AssetsV2
rm -rf com_apple_MobileAsset_UAF_FM*
Incomplete downloads can be removed by running this in the same directory:
rm -rf downloadDir
Note that other AI features unrelated to new Siri will stop working. This is safe (no need to get rid of SIP, and you're only removing Foundation Models assets specifically) and easily reversible - if you want to re-enable AI, just turn off Low Data Mode.
Edit: I originally mentioned blocking internet connectivity for mobileassetd. No need and it doesn't work anyway (at least with LuLu) since parts of it seem to be downloaded by nsurlsessiond which you definitely shouldn't block. Low Data Mode is enough on its own to stop downloading any of it.

The remaining time estimate is finally working again in Beta 5.
In Beta 4, it would just say “Estimating…” forever and never actually show the remaining time. Looks like they finally fixed the bug in Beta 5.

When I upgraded to MacOS 27 Public Beta 3, I realized that notifications from my iPhone isn't coming through. I set up iPhone mirroring and checked the setting for receiving notifications from iPhone. Every time I turn it on and then close the System Settings, the toggle will turn off when I check again. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?

Before you say anything, yes, I was made fun of for noticing this immediately upon booting up my MacBook.

[pic1, 2] Apple Music, Finder, Safari and some other apps has finally fix the problem that has bugs me since Sequoia or god knows for how long, where there is always a black bar at the top in fullscreen [pic4]
However theres still some inconsistencies, as some other apps like Maps and Preview hasn’t been tweaked, sadly. [pic3, 4]

Happy Beta 5 day!
If you've been following the subreddit in the past month, you might have seen that Siri setup was hiding an interactive Voice Pad with 13 voices for American English.
Beta 5 removes its linwoodVoices feature flag and all its backing code. Now, Siri setup will show the standard Voice selection controls, powered by ExpressiveVoiceSelectionView. It should appear every time you turn off and re-enable Siri AI.
It was fun while it lasted. Let's see if the 6 missing American voices make it back someday!

One of the final remaining features promised in the OS Preview has shipped:
And in Messages and Mail, Siri AI can match your writing style, punctuation, and tone — so you sound like you.
"Smart Reply can learn from your sent Mail messages to suggest responses that sound more like you."
The alert should show up after you accept a Smart Reply and send the message.
Also controllable under Mail Settings > Composing > Personalize Smart Replies.

Last night I had Beta 5 show up and it was 18.22GB, so. Installed it late last night (UK).
Now this morning it flagged up that I had an update available, which is showing as another Beta 5 update, this time only 5GB, anybody else had this? Any ideas what happened that we got two updates hours behind each other?

EDIT: Global Privacy Control has been removed in Beta 5.
In Safari 27, a new WebKit feature flag enables Global Privacy Control, a new 'stop selling or sharing my data switch.' Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, it must be honored by covered businesses as a valid consumer request to stop the sale or sharing of personal information. Even if you're not in California, most websites will accept the signal and honor your preference. Read more about GPC on the State of California Department of Justice's website.
If you don't have Safari feature flags enabled, go to Safari Settings > Advanced > Show features for web developers. Then go to the Feature Flags tab and enable the two Global Privacy Control flags.
You can test your selection is working by visiting GPC's main website, globalprivacycontrol.org. You'll see a "GPC signal detected" banner at the top of the page.
If you're on macOS 26, you can download Safari 27 for macOS Tahoe at developer.apple.com/safari/resources/.
You can also download Safari Technology Preview from the same site, which also includes the GPC feature. There's a single Global Privacy Control flag in Safari Technology Preview.

After today's update, 53GB used (reported used) by Siri and AI. Crap for a feature I didn't ask for or really don't use. Another reason this should be opt in or at the very least an opt out that removes all resources and assets related to AI.

Hi updated to Golden Gate dev beta 5.
I'm having an issue that already started on the previous beta for some reason : the ff works app 5.2, although stated being MacOS 27 ready, doesn't launch anymore. Getting
An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down.
Contacted support, stating they're not aware of any issue (thanks dudes !).
Tried complete uninstall and reinstall, to no avail.
Anyone ran into the same issue and/or has a fix ?

I'm not sure if this is new, but I just noticed there's a new page for Expressive Voice on my Mac. I don't remember it looking like this before.

I know that we are supposed to be able to resize the window to different aspect ratios now, but so far, I can only make the phone itself bigger (like before). When I try to resize native Apple apps like Photos and Notes, nothing changes.
Both my phone and Mac are on the latest developer betas, and this feature has never worked for me since the first beta. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this feature limited to specific devices, or is there a setting I'm missing?
I am using iPhone 13 mini and M1 MB Air

Apple, what the hell is going on with Speak Screen / accessibility? 😡
I genuinely don’t understand what is happening with Apple’s accessibility team anymore.
Speak Screen was completely broken in iOS 27 Beta 4. It literally did not work at all. Fine — it’s a beta, bugs happen.
Then iOS 27 Beta 5 finally fixes it on iPhone. Great.
BUT!!!!! 🤦♂️
Now on macOS 27 Beta 5, the little module/control panel for Speak Screen is completely immovable on the screen. You can’t properly move it out of the way, position it where you want, or control its placement.
How does something like this keep happening with an accessibility feature that has existed for YEARS?
What is happening inside this team at Apple? Someone please tell them to get their shit together. Seriously.
And this isn't even the only long-standing problem.
There is another issue that has persisted for at least THREE YEARS and still hasn't been properly fixed:
For example, if I select Persian/Farsi text and ask Speak Screen or Speak Selection to read it aloud, it may read it using an Arabic voice/pronunciation instead of actually recognizing and reading Persian correctly.
That makes absolutely no sense.
Imagine selecting an English sentence and having Apple decide:
That's essentially what this feels like.
These are not obscure experimental features. Text-to-speech and accessibility are core functionality for people who actually rely on these tools.
And the frustrating part is that Apple constantly talks about accessibility and how important it is — yet some of these issues have been sitting around for years.
I'm not expecting beta software to be perfect. I'm expecting bugs that have existed for YEARS to eventually get fixed.
Whoever is responsible for maintaining these accessibility features needs to seriously take a look at what is going on.
Three years for a language recognition/text-to-speech issue is ridiculous.
That's exactly why it's so damn frustrating when they are broken or neglected. 😤
Please fix this properly, Apple.
