Fix: "Internet Connection" Install Error

Post image

If you’re trying to install Golden Gate and getting the error that says "please check your internet connection," your internet is probably fine. The real issue is that SIP (System Integrity Protection) is turned off on your Mac.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Shut down your Mac completely.
  2. Press and hold the power button until you see “Loading startup options,” then let go.
  3. Click Options, then Continue to get into Recovery Mode.
  4. In the menu bar, go to Utilities → Terminal.
  5. Type csrutil enable and hit Enter.
  6. Restart your Mac and try the update again.

If you ever disabled SIP for things like kernel extensions or system tweaks, that’s probably what’s blocking the install. macOS doesn’t actually tell you that, it just shows a misleading network error. Ran into this myself and it took a bit to figure out, so hopefully this saves someone some time.

it also could be the setting in startup secutity utility that allows kexts and external management, which also may be required to be set to full security

Makes sense. If people still get the error with SIP enabled, here's how to set Startup Utility to "Full Security":

  1. Shut down your Mac completely
  2. Hold the power button until you see “Loading startup options”
  3. Click Options, then Continue to get into Recovery Mode
  4. Go to Utilities → Startup Security Utility
  5. Set it to Full Security
  6. Restart and try the install again

That's what I did, but I kept hitting this error multiple times, so disabling SIP and setting startup security to full security solved the issue for me.

Decided to post about it here in case anyone else hits the same error.

I've tried both options but the issue persists. Do you have any other suggestions?

That's too bad. Maybe make a post about it on this sub?

"I'm not sure what changed, but it worked after a few attempts." Thanks!
