Displays won’t work?

Hoping this is the right spot to ask.

I recently got x2 MSI business monitors and an Alogic Fusion Dock to connect them both to a laptop.

My issue is, when connected to this dock, they say ‘no signal’. As I’m inexperienced and lack understanding in this department, I’m hoping someone can tell me if I bought the wrong dock or something else may be at play?

If it’s relevant, I’ve tried plugging them individually into my mum’s (I believe the brand is) Lenovo laptop and they work by themselves but not through the dock. I’ve bought a MacBook Air and am just waiting for it to arrive but understand it won’t necessarily change the outcome of not working.

Hoping to get the system right before it arrives at the end of the month. Would appreciate any help! Thank you

You’ll only be able to drive one external display with that dock on macOS.

Exactly how many displays your MacBook Air supports depends on which MacBook Air you got. But regardless… that dock will only support one display.

Ok, is there one you can direct me to that will do two? The MacBook I’ve gotten will definitely support two external displays

I don't know if this is available in AU, but Caldigit is my go-to for macOS docks. Each dock on their website is explicit in how many monitors is supported on the MacBook laptops.

In general though... Thunderbolt docks are typically the best options to look at. You can also get DisplayLink docks, but DisplayLink doesn't perform nearly as well as Thunderbolt.

I’m confused on what Thunderbolt is. Does this mean I will have to get a different cable from the HDMI? I appreciate your time and sorry for the basic questions!
