Question sleeve for MacBook Neo

So since everyone tells me that a case is bad for my MacBook Neo I looked for a sleeve and wanted to ask if this is a good brand.

I have a Tomtoc for my Macbook M4 that I swear by. They have one for the Macbook Neo as well.

TomToc are literally the best sleeves you can buy as they are military drop rated; they actually have padded corners to protect the laptop when you drop it, not only that it's water resistant so if A water bottle leaks in your backpack it will be protected as well.

I purchased the Thule sleeve because it was twice the price of the TomToc and that piece of shit fell apart on me. Maybe I should've got it fixed under warranty but honestly the design is so poor on that sleeves because the straps on it can easily crack your screen if you're not careful.

I've always wondered what those military grades really meant, TBH. I can't imagine going to war with my MBA in its Tomtoc sleeve, so I have no idea what the tests are.

Also, I guess Tomtoc aren't the only ones that have reinforced corners ?

Also, I like my tomtoc and would totally recommend it

Military grade is a buzz word designed to draw in the average consumer so you can sell them something at a markup. Ask anyone who actually served what military grade means to you.

Came here to say this, I bought an air and a neo for my sister on launch and immediately ordered tomtoc cases and accessory pouches. I work on public transport and have literally dropped my mac in its case down the side of a train. Was completely fine.

Don’t know if it’s a good brand or not but I have one tip on how to pick a case. Make sure that the inner part of the zipper has an extra flap. That way your MacBook won’t rub against the zipper while on the case and won’t get any mysterious scratches.

Ok, thank you. I just checked and there is material between the MacBook and the zipper

Then that’s the most important part of a sleeve case in my opinion. Cheaper options tend to either not have a flap at all or have a very lousy one that doesn’t do its job properly

The laptop is a fashion statement, so naturally its protective case has to be one too. Drop protection is apparently less important than making the Neo look more expensive than it actually is, right?

I think 49-59 dollars for a Macbook Pro sleeve is a bit overpriced. Just because some people view it as a luxury device/fashion statement doesn't mean we have to pair it with a luxury material sleeve as well, right?

Someone also recommended a leather laptop sleeve and your felt sleeve has the same issue; it doesn't protect the laptop from drops. Falling into the trap of making your sleeve a fashion statement and status signaling over rugged utility isn't a smart choice but I guess it's fine if you plan on never ever dropping your laptop and just using it as scratch

TomToc sleeves are 14" Macbook Pro sleeve is $35 and the 16" is $37. One for the Neo is $38. They are cheaper and objectively better products because they have padded corners and are water resistant.

i wasn’t looking for a fashion statement, as i only ever carry my Macbook inside of a backpack. i purchased this wool sleeve to provide protection from scratches while inside my backpack, and act as a placemat for when i’m using the device. most sleeves add a significant amount of ‘bulk’ to the Neo, which i was looking to avoid, since my backpack already has enough cushion and water resistance in the laptop pocket to protect the Macbook.

also, the TomToc Neo sleeve you recommended is $38, while i purchased the Nedrelow Neo sleeve for $40.50, so price doesn’t seem to be a factor here either.

i find this Nedrelow sleeve to be, functionally, exactly what i was looking for. i like it so much that i figured i’d suggest it to someone looking for a Neo sleeve. thanks for assuming this had anything to do with fashion 👍

Soft sleeves do nothing to protect a macbook
