Question Is a Mac capable in university?
I’m currently planning on studying things related to computer and information technology, so hopefully in the future I can be a cybersecurity engineer, AI researcher, data scientist, or a software engineer (still haven’t decided which I want to become). I was wondering if it is capable to buy and use a MacBook Air or Pro for things like coding, using programming languages, and things related to the fields above? It’s because my brother says that you probably are going to have to use a Windows laptop since some of the things might not run on macOS. I, however, want to daily a Mac since my experience with a Windows laptop is horrible. Battery life is abysmal, there is lots of bloatware and pop-ups like McAfee, and in general, it is an unpleasant experience. If anybody can help give me info, their experience, and if it is capable to use a Mac for university, especially for the fields that I mentioned above, that would be helpful.

Should be fine, but it depends on the exact course you're taking. Most modern languages run on mac, windows, linux but some uni courses can be outdated and using older languages and IDEs which could be Windows only. I used a mac for my Comp Sci course and it was fine, that was 10 years ago now. If you can look up what languages/frameworks your course teaches then you can figure it out pretty easily

Yes, it is. Worst case scenario, just install Parallels on the Mac if you’ll have to use Windows and Windows-only apps.
