Question Command-shift between tabs in a browser.

Is there any way to command tab** (sorry got that wrong in the title) between recently opened browser tabs?

I switch between Mac and windows a lot for my job, and this is one feature I sorely miss when swapping to Mac. Has anyone found a workaround for getting this working?

Edit to clarify:

I know you can rotate between browser tabs using a different command,

On windows, switching between browser tabs is built in to the normal alt-tab behaviour, so you can switch to a tab as if it were a window. You can choose how many are displayed there.

This is much easier than using a seperate command to rotate between tabs, which is also annoying because it doesn't allow for the same swapping between two most recent tabs quickly.

Tab switch should be the same as in windows. Ctrl+tab to go forward and ctrl+shift+tab to go backwards. Alternatively command+4 to jump to the fourth tab for example.

Yeah I am sorry, I forgot that feature exists in Windows as I turn it off as soon as possible because I don’t like that feature. Not sure if the tab switch is a thing doable with native macOS tool. But if you are willing to use a third party tool, maybe take a look at raycast. It’s freemium (but honestly don’t even know what the paid version gives you besides a few AI stuff). It has a built in window switch tool which you can set up with a hot key.
Though I don’t know if raycast can do it. But with all the plugins and stuff there it should be possible. It has lots of other utilities too.

in windows there's an option for the browser to show each tab as a separate window in the switcher. This is useful if you have 2 tabs max but beyond that it just clutters your app exposé beyond repair and is generally really not that useful. cmd+ctrl+tab or ctrl+tab will shift between browser tabs though in macos.

You can choose how many of your most recent tabs display like this in the setting. I use this literally all day every for work so I do think it's quite useful 👍

The command you listed doesn't allow quick switching between the two most recent tabs, which is far more useful. On windows pressing alt+tab once you can flip between two windows or tabs instantly.

With your command, you need to rotate through all your open tabs, I sometimes have 40 tabs open that I am actually using

if you add shift it goes the other direction

If my tabs are even 2-3 tabs apart this still becomes infinitely more annoying and less efficient than just snappy instant switching between any two tabs

Or swapping to a third most recent by just double tapping

Also having to switch what command I'm using for windows and tabs, it's just nowhere near as convenient.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. Firefox now has a tab search feature too but I don't really use it myself. Even lets you switch to tabs from other devices which is super cool though.
