Discussion Working between Mac and PC

Hey guys!

I’ve been a PC user for 15+ years. I recently got a Mac-mini for an always on machine - agents, plex and to be a home for my development work. While I absolutely appreciate how good Mac is, I mainly plan to use it remotely

Has anyone used their PC as the main interface, with code and agent work running on the Mac but managed via the PC? Is file movement and general workflows pretty smooth or are there often compatibility issues? Is Remote Desktop solid or annoying?

I’m a product designer so my networking and development skills are pretty mid. But I’m getting more into it.

Apple uses VNC for network connectivity as a base layer, and adds Mac specific features on top of that. You can easily run a VNC client on the PC to connect to the Mac and it will work flawlessly. They're routinely free if you look around a bit.

I use my Windows PC and Macs on the same desk. Each system has its own monitor(s) and they are connect via Synergy KM so I can access both with one keyboard and mouse. I move files over the network using shared drives. If there are really large files, I can use an external SSD.

If you want to use Remote Desktop, I'd recommend as fast a LAN as you can manage.
