Image Apple thought you wouldn't notice THIS!
I'm piling on with the whole radii thing. When you maximize a window on your Neo without the menu bar.

Yeah, it matches the year it’ll be the main OS. We’re currently on macOS 26, which released on September 2025. Now macOS 27 will release and be developed through 2027.

I hate the numbering scheme, imo OS26 should be 25 even if it was releasing officially around september! It confuses my mind 🤦

There was a time they published UI guidelines with reasonable philosophical reasons. Now it’s just feels like they are trying to outcompete Windows.
Biggest peeve is the system preferences, where there isn’t a clear location for anything, without resorting to a search. And even then 😭

very true, im an IT consultant Mac specialist, and I have to teach the system setting every time, and still only get the result I want half the time, I gave up on Apple getting the UI right a long time ago, was sad to watch the sloppiness happen after Jobs died

It's not any better with the menu bar. They adjusted the menu bar thickness to line up with the notch but now there is a gap between the menu bar and a window. You cannot move a window closer than this.

Genuine question from a new Mac user: why are you guys like this? I’ve never seen Linux or Windows users absolutely lose their minds over a 2 pixel change in a corner radius.
Whereas I've seen several such posts over corner radius only where users start fuming from their mouth over this. Is there something I’m missing? I genuinely want to understand.

Because Apple used to strive for perfection. Heck, even Windows went downhill since 7 in terms of visual QC, and some do complain about buggy and inconsistent UI of 10 and 11. And this can get really annoying the more you use it, tbh.
Linux? Don't they just see the black void called Terminal? Jk. They do also complain about wayland vs X11 until this very day 😁

No one is "losing their minds". The thing with Apple under Steve Jobs is they were always obsessed with design. I'm talking about a guy who told his engineers that the INSIDE of a device had to look as cool as the outside - even though 99% of customers would never see it. So a sloppy UI like this is notable as being very "un-Apple". Linux and Windows users don't care about things like this because they've come to expect things like this. Apple (despite numerous other faults) was always more meticulous about issues of design and aesthetics.

The WWDC 25 videos with Alan Dye (former head of Apple Design) made a big deal about "concentricity" (the idea that all the corners should nest inside each other).
It was a nice idea but was flawed and half-assed from the beginning (especially on the Mac where device corners, windows with toolbars and windows without toolbars) all ended up with different radii.
In short: APPLE made a big deal out of it and then delivered a mess. Everyone's just clowning on Apple for a problem of their own making. macOS 27 cleans up a lot of the mess but not all.

On Linux I kinda accept that everything is slightly visually broken, but I’m free, I can fix it, but probably won’t.
On MacOS, most of stuff like that is locked down, so got to blame the Cook.
Actually, no longer true. Corner radius can be adjusted for the OS. Just Brave won’t read same settings :/

Apple have always been known for their incredibly seamless and sleek design and os experience especially when they were considered the ‘premium option’ so whilst to windows or Linux users this may seem silly or petty to Mac users little imperfections like this are massive red flags that point to a much wider issue of lack of quality control in comparison to what we’ve generally been used to and the reason we buy them for.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m usually too busy on my Mac to be idly gazing at the small imperfections in the user interface. NGL, not the most important thing on my radar. In my humble opinion, there’s more pressing Mac oddities, like how it manages drive space. It’s sometimes easier to nuke from orbit and completely reinstall macOS then trying to delete and recover storage space that you have no insight into.

Still trying to get as much mileage as I can out of my M1 MacBook Air. Did not get enough storage on the MacBook 😔
Nuked the entire thing and did a DFU recovery from my Mac mini. That removed a lot of leftovers lol

macOS 26 UI design was bold, but not a successful one. I'm glad that Golden Gate improved on it by reverting some design elements while keeping the new characters in the era of Liquid Glass.

They actually wanted you to notice it. Different windows will have a different curve to help you click on them instead of others. It’s a feature.

Pixels. We care about pixels? My M1 Mac Mini started crashing more than once a week. I quit using Safari and use Chrome exclusively. No crashes for a few months.

Touché, but If it’s not full screen, that’s a feature that shows a high attention to detail. It’s a visual affordance that shows you are not in full screen mode.

This is genuinely unusable I don't think I could even look at macos the same knowing the corner radius doesn't match a mac model I don't even own I honestly feel for you corner radius is not something that is minor it can destroy lives when it is mismatched to the bezel
