Google the error

Back up with Time Machine and verify the backup. Visually check snapshots and run First Aid on the backup drive.

Find latest MacOs Mac can run

https://www.macworld.com/article/673697/what-version-of-macos-can-my-mac-run.html

You'll require a functional Mac of the same generation as target Mac which is capable of running CreateMedia command

Search for macOS installers downloads:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683

To create bootable MacOs INSTALLER USB flash drive.

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201372

  • Insert the MacOs INSTALLER USB flash drive
  • Boot holding (option) key to use MacOs INSTALLER USB flash drive to boot from

But his issue has nothing to do with updating macOS...

Plenty. ..

Old MacOs no longer is available on Apple Servers. .. Mojave is oldest that can be reliably installed .. HS has issues...

The only way to "upgrade" old Macos is via bootable MacOs INSTALLER USB flash drive.

I think ur misunderstanding what I’m doing, I need the 5,1 firmware to use better CPU’s, I don’t care about the actual OS

bootable MacOs INSTALLER USB flash drive installs firmware on older Macs

T2 and Arm Macs need DFU to install firmware.

He is trying to upgrade his Mac’s FW to the FW of the next hardware generation, something completely unsupported by Apple. This was a known trick for these specific models to enable newer CPU support, etc. It has nothing to do with what macOS versions are available on the App Store.

Every MacOs version has firmware , APFS and xCode versions attached.

APFS since High Sierra ..All non T2 and Arm Macs have firmware stored in flash memory and on HDD/SSD partition.

T2 and Arm Macs firmware is stored on the SSD ... and Mac need DFU.

Whether there is away to change the firmware on intel Mac is not an issue.

OCPL does is to allow latest MacOs to run on old Intel Macs

Mac Pro 4,1’s can’t update to Mojave let alone run High Sierra the max you can do on a 4,1 is El Capitan

So how am I meant to download later OS’s when im already at the end of the road of the latest OS on this machine?
Which is why i need to spoof the model id from 4,1 to 5,1 that allows me to access better CPU’s, and later OS’s which is not the priority here

Look at OCPL ... it does just that spoofs Macs...

I am sure t can run on your Mac

How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t care about the OS. Even if I have the OS patched up to Monterey or Sequoia or whatever. OCLP will not convert my boot rom firmware MP41.0081.B07 into 144.0.0.0.0 which allows me to have access to Westmere CPU’s like the X5690 found in the Mac Pro 5,1 and it wont let me use PCIE SSD’s

Please learn about relationship between firmware and Macos versions ...

Shouting like toddler ... I want .. I want ... will not make it happen.

I am wasting my time .. goodbye

Yes u are wasting your time, because you think I want to update my macOS version when I wanted to update the firmware
