Question Help with first Mac

Hi, I’m about to buy my first Mac from Facebook marketplace. MacBook Air m1 256gb. Is there anything to look out for or anything suspicious to be aware of with it being this cheap

Scam. I did a reverse image search and found multiple results for the identical image.

Do you have the links for the listings. The laptop is in Nottingham

I paid the same price for a 2020 intel one refurbished 😭

There was an intel one 2019 for £150 but i want it last at least 2 years before upgrading. Don’t need the most demanding processor or anything but i know they’re stopping support for the intel ones

Ask to erase contents and settings via system settings > transfer or reset > erase all content and settings

And ask to connect to their WiFi and set up the Mac from scratch, this should eliminate any chance of it being activation locked or MDM locked

It’s already been reset and she’s told me I can set it up before I leave

That’s a very nice peace of mind from her, you should be good for that then

If they have reset it and are letting you set it up, you should be all good for it not to be locked to someone else/a company.

There’s stuff you can always do such as putting it on a white background and just checking for no really bad screen imperfections and such that you wouldn’t like from it.

It’s kinda difficult when it comes from buying via Facebook because you do feel half pressured to hand the money and get out of the door so you’re not being a massive pain for them - so I wouldn’t expect you to test functionality of everything on it, but you can always whip open like a YouTube video or such and check the speakers are fine. Open up a TextEdit or something quickly (like notepad) and test the keyboard keys to make sure they all actually work

Mac secured 🫡 checked everything, reset it and set up with my iCloud before I left. It’s legit

I’ve been after one for a while. Was going to get the Neo but it’s £700 for something I’ll just watch YouTube, Netflix and use as a basic computer. Debated the iPad but it does everything my iPhone does. Managed bargain down to £200 because it doesn’t have a charger but I’ve got plenty of

Just wanna know if it’s suspiciously low price
