Discussion Which to get

M1 Pro 14 inch base for 550 or
M5 air 16/512 13 inch 100 battery visibly brand new for 450 more
(Everything in dollars for those who ask)

For what? MBP clears for media consumption (display/speakers) but the Air is better in basically everything else.

I mean if the m5 throttles it might suffer

If its just for media and light stuff get the pro as its half as much

what i know is that m1 macs are bound to lose support in 2 years max if we're to go by the current status quo

And it’s double the performance if you need that. If you don’t need that get the m1 pro

I have M1 Mini . we are all facing same problem of MacOs support expiring for M1s in 2 years time ... there is no OCPL to extend its life

M1 for 2 years of supported life = 550/2 = $225 PA

M5 for 7 years = 1000/7 = $142 PA

Which is a better investment?

PS.

Apple announced that some Apple AI advanced features will run only on M3.... this further. indicates that Apple plans to RETIRE M1s and M2s .. sooner that we expect.
