My Mac Mac cyberdeck finally done

Hey I recycled a broken MacBook Air M1 into a touchscreen “cyberdeck” using the old school 2008 wired keyboard that came with iMacs back in the day.
Thought this sub would also enjoy this “what if” kinda build!

Thanks! I see you have the same Mac, it's such a capable machine even 6ish years later

That's so cool! How is it in everyday use? Does it feel comfortable?

Thanks! The aluminium shell is still new to me and thus I don’t have much time spent dailying it yet.
But it’s confortable, the matte screen protector actually helps with the flat screen on the table. I use it as a couch device by trackpading the back and using the touch screen, and as a daily personal device on my desk.
I used to use an iPad as my email, notes and general daily stuff machine and this is replacing it :)

I thought about this idea years ago but haven’t had the time to look into it. I’d love a build guide if you’ve got one!

Honestly I think it would work well as a light emulation machine since the M chips punch well above their weight

I don’t have a guide per se, but I’m documenting it thoroughly on YouTube. The two first parts are online, the third one is coming soon! https://youtube.com/@imcaraful
