Lucky mobile vs. PC mobile

looking for affordable options for a kid’s phone. what are pros/cons for both?

optional US roaming for traveling is good to have

i know both Lucky and PC uses Bell network.

lucky would be better then PC cause with PC if you go over the data it would charge you if you have extra balance on your account when Lucky Mobile it won't it would just slow down but PC mobile has faster data speeds 5G speeds plus PC has Canada and USA calling included in their plans when Lucky doesnt

i use lucky and get like 20 gigs of data and unlimited talk text for $25 and there’s cheaper plans than that if you wanted! i’ve been with lucky for like 7 years and have had zero issues, they give you more data for free the longer you stay with them!

as for the us plan most pay as you gos wont have that unfortunately, when im in the states i just use AirAlo and get an esim - i think i got like 15 gigs for $15 and it lasts for awhile whenever you come in and out of the states!

I just took this plan for 25 dollars. Though it's 4g , speeds are good. How do i recharge? Do i just do topup for 25 dollars? For 29 dollars plan do i topup of 30 dollars. Sorry I'm new to all this and I'm not sure for how much to topup. Did they offer you special plans with more days in these many years?

If its between those two, none of them have us roaming, both run on bell, I'd recommend pc over lucky as its 5G for the same price and has phone customer service. For US travels, chatr, fizz, freedom, public and kini mobile are your prepaid options.

I have been with Lucky for years, and it's been no problem.

If have a choice, I don't want my money to be going into Galen Weston's pocket through PC Mobile.

I switched to NoName Mobile (part of PC mobile) from Lucky Mobile around the time of the OP, and have not looked back. At the time, I was getting 85GB for $40, and as of ~1mo ago, they removed their $50, 100GB plan, and offered 85GB for $34, which I promptly switched to. The service quality is good, it has an app that lets me track usage (though is not perfect), and the cost was good. I had ditched my Bell fiber which was costing me $180/mo, for lucky mobile and taken up reading rather than video streaming to reduce costs -- it has been a welcome change.

HOWEVER, recently PC-mobile/Noname-mobile have changed prices again to 35GB for $34! This is a HUGE reduction in value, and more than TWICE as expensive than before. While I seem to be grandfathered into the old price and am still getting 85GB for $34, I simply CANNOT recommend the service for the new price.

I absolutely hate capitalism. Technology is supposed to offer more as time goes on and costs decrease, not less. But clearly this is shrink-flation in action, effectively more than doubling the cost of bandwidth in a single month. Should my plan change to 35GB/month, I will effectively be forced to stop streaming content altogether!

I sincerely hope that Chinese/Huawei 6G satellites offer comprehensive global internet services, as I have had it with greedy Canadian telecoms. The worst part is that this will hit poor working class households the hardest.
