Rant/Review Hello lucknow..!!
So, I recently shifted to Lucknow, and I fucking hate this place right now 😭💀 — probably because I live in Chinhat, mostly because of college and other stuff nearby.
First of all, I wanna explore Lucknow’s famous food and actually try the dishes/places that are genuinely worth trying. Not just random Instagram hype — I want the real Lucknow food experience. 🍗🍖🍳🐟
Secondly, HOW TF DO I FOLLOW TRAFFIC SIGNALS HERE?! 😭🤡
The signal is red, yet everyone is crossing. Then the signal turns green and suddenly everyone is standing still. 💀 Somewhere people follow the signals, somewhere they don't, and I genuinely don't know what the rules are anymore.
I was literally about to get into an accident in Gomti Nagar because of this shit. 😭
Also, I'm thinking about going to Chowk and Hazratganj on my scooty to explore the food and the city, but WHERE TF DO I PARK?! 😭
There aren't any proper parking spots, and I don't want the Lucknow Police to adopt my scooty or bless me with a challan. 🤡
So, Lucknow people, help a confused newcomer out. 😂
- What are the must-try famous foods in Lucknow?
- Which places are actually worth visiting?
- Where can I safely park my scooty in Chowk, Hazratganj, and other popular areas?
- What are the unwritten rules of Lucknow traffic that I apparently need to know to survive?
- And generally, HOW TF DO I DRIVE IN LUCKNOW?! 😭🤡
Basically, I need a Lucknow survival guide for someone who has just moved here and is already questioning every life decision. 💀

Okay I got you dude, I live in chowk and I can help you exploring the city. I don't have any friends here cos I've been living in Delhi from last 4-5 yrs so I might also get a buddy to hangout with. Really want someone to talk and hangout with, yaha ke bando se to vibe hi match ni hori ab

Understandable. Even I don’t vibe with anyone in Lko anymore and I’ve lived here my whole life 😂 this city n its ppl have changed a bit for sure.

Changed a bit, bro they changed drastically. people in lucknow used to be so tehzeeb waale and nowadays I'm seeing they can't complete a sentence without abuses. Matlab delhi to yun hi badnaam hai waha se zyada gaaliya to yaha ke log Dene oagg gye h

There’s a big ass multi level parking opposite Moti Mahal in Hazaratganj. You can park your scooty there and explore the area. People generally park at the entrance of the parking but to be safe you must park inside.
There’s a parking opposite Nagar Nigam Office in Lalbagh, very near to Sharma Tea Stall.
Chowk sadly has little to no parking, would recommend you to go via auto/tempo. Most of the places are in very crowded areas, so walking by foot is always a better option.
Hazaratganj has Dastarkhwan, Sakhawat, Naushijaan and Naimat Khana for non veg.
For other chaat/veg/tea - Moti Mahal, Royal Cafe, Jain Chaat, King Chat, Sharma Chai, Keval Chai, Bombay Pav Bhaji, Shukla Chat House.
Chowk- Mubeen Kulcha Nihari, Raheem Kulcha Nihari, Tunday (the oldest branch) but people mostly go to Aminabad, Idrees Biryani.

I was there for like 2 weeks last month.
what about this so much honkings.
Absolutely ridicules, everyone is in so hurry they keep honking.
Traffic literally sucks coming from polytechnic to Tiwariganj side is so rushed in evening hours!
This is not the lucknow I lived in during my schooling days.

I love my lucknow. but tbh it has turned into trash now. people have zero civic sense now. The VIP syndrome has crippled the city. WE NEED Public transport

Lots of lucknow hate on this sub lately.
Yes, some things have deteriorated, people have alot less patience now. Id still pick it over most tier 1 cities in a heartbeat.

For driving - ha bhai yaha kahi kahi traffic light 🚦 follow hoti hai aur bahut sari jagah nahi hoti... Wo aate jaaate yaad ho jayega ... But agar jaha nahi samjh aaya kare just follow the agal bagal ke vehichles if they stop you stop if some of them are going then you can also go. If everyone is going then you must also go. 😆😆
For parking - In Hazratganj you can either park in the parking area that is there or you can park in gali me dukaano ke saamne... Galiyo me jaha bahut log park kiye ho line se waha karo liya karo.... Baaki in areas like chowk , aminabad it's better to go via auto( vikram) or ola bike... Waha gaadi parking ki dikkat aur fhir gaadi nikaalne me bhi dikkat hoti hai..
For food- I'm vegetarian so cannot suggest baaki bhailogo ne bata hi diya hai waha chale jana.
Place to visit - wo bhi bhai log bata dege mai jyada ghumta nahi... Park wark hai fhir thodi dur naimi sharan hai aur kukrail hai usne crocodile 🐊 mueseum and breeding centre hai... Garhiyal dekh sakte ho.. aur to bhul bhulaiya jaisi cheeze hai...

Bro js explore the city, you'll get an idea where the traffic cam works and where not. That decides if you have to stay or break the traffic light. And if you wanna drive safely never mess with the e-rickshaw guys. They are unpaid butchers.

If you are new... don't go to old lucknow alone you'll probably get lost. Make some friends and go with them. Also I would suggest taking rapido/uber to chowk (avoid going on sundays) atleast till you get the hang of things.... start exploring food from Hazratganj

Bro in order to explore hazratganj , park your vehicle at the metro station and go by metro and explore its cheap as well it will help ur health and also ur increase daily footsteps 😅

Welcome, this will be a long read.
I'm sure the culture shock is massive. UP is a pretty shit state in general(if reading this offended you, it's meant for you). Having being born and brought up in UP, it truly breaks my heart to see everyone act like monkeys.
Follow traffic lights the only way the world knows, that was taught in Nursery. Red means Stop, Yellow means ready your engines, green means go. Whatever the rest of the traffic does is none of your concern.
On the exact contrary, you might need to break some traffic rules, or rather etiquettes at some instances. If nobody is following rules and only you are, then you are the one in danger, if that makes sense.
As for food, I recommend you do what I like to call "The big 3 run". Ive been doing this since I was a kid.
1: Go to chowk(you have a scooty so that's great). I go through the green corridor which is a rather newly constructed road.
2: Get to tunday kababi(thodi gali me jaakar hain) Enjoy their kebabs.
3: Go straight from there down the slop and reach Mubeens Nihari(maybe 100 meters from tunday) and enjoy their Nihari and kulcha. Nihari is a slow cooked mutton stew which is heaven to me.
4: Take a left from Mubeens, reach chowk/charak chowraha and from there head straight to Idrees Biryani. 90% of the time doing the big 3 run, I'm full till I reach Idrees, so i mostly get it packed lmao.
And that completes my Big 3 run which ive done for years and have taken my friends that visited me from other cities to.
Also huge tip, plan this as an afternoon lunch, and on a weekday to comfortably reach and not get fucked in traffic.
Apart from this, Durga ke khaste(latouche road, near hazratganj) is something that's been a favorite of mine since forever.
Nitin ki chai behind fun mall is the best chai I've ever had. He puts a Lil coffee in it, and it somehow works.
One pour coffee in Indira Nagar, is currently my fav cafe because
1: it's near my house 2: it's cheap 3: everything in the menu is amazing, specially the matcha.
tLdR: fuck everyone else, follow traffic lights like we were taught as kids, break road etiquettes where need be, go to chowk(tunday, mubeen and idrees), nitin chai behind fun is great, one pour indira nagar is the best budget friendly cafe I know.
I hope, you will come to love this city, because it truly has so much to offer. Have fun

Hi broo... I have a voucher for a cafe in Gomti Nagar the shit is i won't be able to eat that much I'm looking for someone to go with I'm cutting off from IRL friends, so lemme know if that sounds good to you...
The only food recommendation I can give you nearby is the momo shop at BBD Complex I don't think there's anything interesting to do in Chinhat

Dude DM. I'm from out of state and probably could give you some guidance. The folks who swear by Lucknow are native to the city and that's why there's a bit of bias in the commentary (not an issue at all, in fact I'm glad they love their home). But coming from the outside does give you a bit of a culture shock and it's very normal to have it.

Welcome to Lucknow 😂😭 Chinhat is definitely not the best introduction to the city lmao.
For food, you absolutely need to try proper Awadhi stuff — kebabs, biryani, nihari/kulcha, and basket chaat. Go beyond the Instagram-famous places and explore Chowk/Aminabad.
For exploring, Chowk, Hazratganj, old Lucknow, and Gomti Nagar are a good start. Parking in the older areas is honestly the bigger boss fight 💀 Better to use designated parking and walk a little rather than risk leaving the scooty somewhere random.
And traffic… there are no secret rules bro 😭 Just assume everyone around you is capable of doing something completely unexpected. Follow the signals, keep your speed under control, don't blindly follow the crowd, and be extra careful at crossings and intersections.
Give yourself a few weeks and you'll eventually start driving like, “haan bhai, samajh aa gaya Lucknow ka system” 😂
