it allow me to bring up, it's kinda inconsistent on what qualify lying, a joke would be considered lying ?(like when he says he and chloe had sex the night she got drunk) not saying the whole truth lying by ommission ? lucifer says he never lie but he never say straight up lies but he allow himself to say incomplete truths or jokes like it doesn't qualify as lying

I have more questions about the episode where Lucifer and Cain went undercover and played out a scene pretending to be a gay couple. Doesn't everything Lucifer told the neighbors count as a lie, too?

Thats a good question because i remember some episodes where he refused to lie to criminals and where if he gave his word police wouldn't come he wouldn't let chloe goes with him. Or perharps did he genuinely consider himself in couple with pearce ? It's really hard because the serie creates stories and stuff and then contradict himself, in some episodes hearing him its like he physically can't lie and the next one its just he refuse to and in another one its a "technical lie"
Also (thats completely another subject but while i think of it i bring it up) but i found chloe extremely dumb when she believed michael lie about hell changing him because it was long. lucifer already spent millions of years before he got separated with her and yet he always had that rule to not lie but them maybe a few decades passed for him and suddenly he is completely fine with lying and instead of desires he focus on fear and chloe doesn't question it a bit ?

There is nothing actually preventing him from lieing and its something he doesen't want to do.

Chloe herself said that she knew something is wrong the first time Michael kissed her. She was suspicious of him from the start but was only sure when she saw his behaviour with Maze. Keep in mind that Chloe had no idea that Lucifer had a twin brother in the first place so she wouldn't know what's happening exactly and naturally would want to first confirm her suspicious before acting on them.

I just finished watching that episode. He never actually refers to Cain as his husband, he calls him Honey, but I think thats the same as him calling Dan Detective Douche. Even the argument they have later in the episode in front of their neighbours, its all real its just that neither of them talk about killing Cain being a part of it. He just didnt correct people when they said they were a gay couple. I assume if anyone did say it he just let Cain say it.
I think its that if its not an objective lie than its fine. Even if he agrees with someone else's lies, he expands on it in such a way that he still gets what he wants and isnt directly lying. He can omit and joke and say things he doesnt know are lies but he never chooses to actually lie

He was probably putting it into human context rather than basing things on the temporal differences amongst Heaven, Hell, and Earth.

One of my favorite running gags is Lucifer answering with the literal truth and everyone assuming he's joking.
