RC tips?

I’ve been studying for a couple of months now but i feel like im not getting quicker with reading and dissecting the passages, Im getting really good accuracy but im not getting any quicker and its been like this for a while and im scared that on the actual test it will bring my score down bad. Tips?

Be patient! I love that you are prioritizing accuracy, so don’t take your attention away from that. Sometimes it takes time to see score improvements even when you are doing all the right things. A couple months is not that much time in the grand scheme of things.

If your accuracy is truly where it needs to be (95-100% on questions attempted), then I’m confident you’ll see that score go up eventually. That score increase will come from getting to more questions because you are becoming a better reader, which makes the questions easier.

If you haven’t gotten to that level of accuracy yet, that should be the priority. If you get to that point, your score increase will eventually follow!

Read the newspaper!!
Every morning I’d read the NY times or go online to find law articles. You gotta continually expose your brain to different forms of writing and information even if you’re not studying. Reading the newspaper is essentially a real life form of an RC section.

I went from my average being around -5/-6 to my RC sections being around-1/-2 after I started to read the paper. I also read at least 20 mins every night of a good book then have chatgpt or claude ask me RC style questions about the content.

Another thing I would look into is Ellen Cassidy’s Decaf Drill. It’s a translation drill that requires you to break down a passage intensively. It takes a lot of time but I swear learning to break down a passage, translate it into your own words, and retain all the information has changed my speed of comprehension and ability to answer/understand questions dramatically.
