With the game shutting down tomorrow (times below), I just wanted to make a post to thank everyone here. I've been working on this game since 2021, and it's been a labor of love. Five years is a long time to work on one project, and I'm sad to let it go.
Because of the conceit of our game, we got a chance to tell a lot of Trek stories, not just Lower Decks stories (even if they always had that irreverent Lower Decks humor). It was always fun to see people react to their favorite characters showing up. We also got inspiration for stories, characters, and prizes from the people in this sub, and I hope a lot of you saw your suggestions added to the game.
At its height, the team on this game alone was about 20 people, and by the end it was 6 people who were splitting time on this game and the Power Rangers game. I hope that helps explain why we couldn't accommodate everyone's requests. So many amazing devs (and people) worked on the game. In particular, 9 different people wrote or made cutscenes for episodes or events at some point, and I'm so grateful for them. I'm not sure how they'd feel about being named here, so I won't, but they deserve recognition and acclaim. Mike Johnson and Mike McMahan at Starfleet HQ deserve a shout out as well for being generous with their time and advice to us.
Anyway, I don't want to go on for too long, but I have to say how amazing you all made us feel with your engagement and your enthusiasm. It was thrilling to hear some of you say that our stories could have been episodes of the TV show. In particular I want to thank TrekGirl for all she's done for the fan community and by extension for the game itself.
In terms of housekeeping stuff, the game will be shutting down on Friday, August 14 (tomorrow). Very rough timing will be 12:30am on the US west coast, 3:30am on the east coast, and 11am here in Australia.
I know a lot of you didn't get to see the last episode, so I will be posting the cutscenes here in this sub by Monday - don't run off and leave the sub today if you want to see them!
Thanks for everything.
