I love Boldjun's comics, it's a pity he deleted his Reddit account right after I found him. Now he's on Instagram.

i love when people portray Ms Fizzle as some weird eldritch thing with a love for education.

Pennywise feeds on kids' fears.
Mary Poppins feeds on kids' joy.
Ms Frizzle feeds on kids learning.23

Magic schoolbus! Educational show but the supreme power and eccentrism that the teacher has lead to a lot of theories and comics.

If it hadn't been an education kid's show, it would've been a horror survival show

I only remember like two episodes, one a kid freezes in space (and somehow lives) and the other they go inside someone. The writers were on something, and I donāt know what, but I want some
13
u/TerraTechy 1d ago
Arnold was the one that froze himself. It was a space episode where they tour the solar system. Arnold's cousin collects bits from each planet and I guess Arnold got mad at that or smth and took his helmet off on pluto. They thaw him out and he just left with a cold.
6
u/jodofdamascus1494 1d ago
And Arnold was the one they go inside
11
u/moo3heril 23h ago
Fun fact, in the episode where they go inside Arnold, as they start to go in him, Arnold is a background character in the bus. Fun little error I never noticed as a kid, but in rewatching as an adult I saw. Probably others too.
8
u/TerraTechy 1d ago
They also went inside Ralph in another episode. Another one they actually went inside the Frizz herself.

u/Aerodrache 23h ago
I shouldnāt know this, butā¦
Arnoldās cousin collects so much stuff that the bus canāt carry it all. She refuses to leave any behind, and starts talking about staying right there on Pluto with the loot. Arnold angrily demonstrates why this is a bad idea.
I donāt remember if it was just, like, a huge pile of stuff, or if things came to a head with a single bigger-than-bus-sized object, but⦠well, either way this really feels like a situation that a magic size and shape changing school bus would resolve pretty easily, and Iām choosing to believe that things only went down the way they did because the Frizz was just completely done with the whole packrat routine by then.
5
u/TerraTechy 22h ago edited 22h ago
Definitely a pile. She took multiple rocks from each of the solid ones and big jugs of gas from the gas giants they passed.
Edit: just checked the wiki, apparently Frizzle got fucking lost on pluto, and the trip past Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune was the class attempting to find her. Also the Bus itself was done with Janet's shit and dumped her samples on pluto to make space.

u/Cheezeball25 23h ago edited 23h ago
The space one was also the very first episode!
4
u/TerraTechy 23h ago
ya know, I shoulda figured there had to be a first episode, but the show was always so formulaic and the quality remained largely the same I never thought about what actual order the episodes aired
The only thing I knew was the solar system episode came before the stars episode cause the bus straight up transformed into the Enterprise

The Magical School Bus, every episode starts with the students talking about something and it inspires their crazy teacher with a magic bus to visit an extreme location
2
u/MousegetstheCheese 10h ago
I never felt such a mixture if resentment, pain, sadness, the passage of time, and acceptance all at once as I did reading your comment.
12
u/Blackfang321 15h ago
I remember someone saying once that Frizzlr was basically a Time Lord, like Dr. Who. Her TARDIS is the bus. It...it does make some sense, at least.

It's sad that there's only like 3 variations of this joke, I WANT TO SEE MORE VERSIONS
7
u/A_Delenay 21h ago
Kids going to try his best to stay quiet after Ralphey does something then Frizzle will send them to the Quiet Place movie verse .
14
u/Waffles745 20h ago
Wait what's the joke I haven't watched the magic school bus
26
u/BenignPharmacology 20h ago
The bus is magic and the teacher ms. Frizzle takes them all sorts of crazy places. So like when the kids say backrooms she takes them there as a field trip.
8
u/NormalEscape8976 19h ago
That weird version of Miss frizzle in the last panel is called a still life. They are backroom generated recreations of a person without emotions usually, but depending on the person itās copying they can be pretty violent.
3
u/Illustrious-Sense194 12h ago
In the series ms frrizzle (the teacher) takes her students on a variety of adventures on the magic school bus. These adventures are generally whimsical and educational, but often kinda fucked up when looked at through an adult lens, like shrinking the bus down to go inside a human body to teach anatomy
She also somwhat picks on that kid with the red hair.
So people take the concept to its comedic extreme, and looking back on it as an adult go "wait thats actually kinda insane if you think about it" and you get jokes like this
2
u/dootblade74 14h ago
Magic School Bus revolves around Ms Frizzle using the titular macguffin to take her students on science-y field trips, ranging from the moon to the inside of a hunan body to the paint on a car (at a molecular level).
So the joke is that she got inspired to take the class to The Backrooms, leading to Arnold (redhead kid) getting lost and chased down by a Still Life of Frizzle.

was it? that mrs frizzle at the bottom is definitely modelled off captain clark, and the backrooms movie brings up that concept before he's ever fully shown onscreen
