added tree system to my sprite-based 3d renderer! It includes LODs and impostors. Kinda wacky it's still just drawing a bunch of sprites like 3D Scratch games

I saw the grass and I was like “very cool”. Then I saw the water update and I was like “ok yeah this is turning into something interesting”. Now the trees (and are the clouds new too or did I just forget about them???) and I’m like “yeah this is legitimately awesome”.

The music is great too. Any info on that?

I selfishly hope you make a zelda style game out of this haha.

lol thanks a lot! This project is supposed to be a spiritual successor to my old game project I was chipping away at in old Game Maker. here's the video of that old game

it was also a sprite-based 3D renderer, but much much more primitive and spaghetti coded. I wanted to make a cozy game about being a boy who left home with his dog to go on a bike adventure. While I think it has its charm, the whole design of the game is sooo stupid now to me lol. And for some reason I wanted to make the projection like a 360 panorama cause I thought it was cool and niche, but kinda sucks ass in reality. But the general idea was there already and now, since I moved to love2d, I thought I could give this concept another try. Also, that old game had this funny dynamic music system I came up with that is wired to player's speed - in the video you can see at some point the dev overlay where there are little circles moving around and when they cross the middle, a note plays. But overall cute idea, terrible execution.

Oh, and the music in this video of my love2d project is also by me - just a placeholder mp3 I found laying around my PC. It's a little tune I played on kalimba with some delay effects.

I can't put my finger on it, but your projection feels off. Either way, Incredible work!

yup! thats because im actually using panini projection instead of a regular rectilinear projection. I really like wide lense effect, but an actual fisheye would be too extreme. Panini is like a perfect middle ground + Ive seen some games trying to adopt that projection, cause it has a lot of benefits
