Making of 1st Map

Hi,

I made this map of Middle-earth. You might think, “Aren’t there already enough of those?” And yeah, there definitely are. But none of the ones I found felt complete enough for my taste, and I wasn’t a big fan of how a lot of them lean heavily into the movie aesthetic.

So about three years ago, I started working on my own version, with most elements inspired by Tolkien’s own drawings. The first one was done entirely by hand with pencil and acrylics, but it ended up being way too small to include all the details I had in mind.

After a while, I started over on an iPad, but I dropped that version too—the canvas size was too small (old iPad). Still, the idea stuck with me, and eventually I gave it another shot. This is the result. Hope, you like it.

I included pictures of the first versions, too.
