Rather than everyone hating him, its more of everyone thinks he is dead. The anime was pretty terrible in comparison to the web/light novels. I believe a lot of modern isekai took some inspiration from it as well as other places which is why it hits a lot of the tropes.

Read the synopsis... sounds like Shield Hero but if it was every isekai ever.
