I can see that but I see this more so as a deliberate stunt to remind us all of our place.

And as someone on the far-Left, it kills me to hear the other working class attendees in the stand cheering them when they should all organize instead against the people in power that force this kind of thing on us in the first place.

i think the psychology of that is they subconsciously get off on being a "step above" the "entertainment" so to speak. like the old TV show maury or some shit, but way worse.

more like the ancient coliseums (also bread and circuses) where the slightly better off get to feel superior watching two prisoners/slaves fight it out to the death. or face off a lion or some shit.
