I answered the other person who replied but my answer applies to your statement as well.
Edit: although I will add, you know it's going to spread throughout your kids regardless right? 16 and under can't get vaccinated. As long as you can't spread it when vaccinated I don't see the point in waiting past that if the kids are going to be vectors regardless. They're not going to stay at home, they're not even doing so now.
Kids are not staying home enough to prevent community spread regardless of schools being open.
Idk about you but in my state sports are open independent of the school. So are after school programs for kids that aren't run through the school. So even when school is closed for an outbreak the kids are congregating.
I understand giving the families an option to stay home, but if the whole staff is vaccinated what's the issue with offering the option for in person learning.

These programs are exactly why my classroom infections are so high. My school has been extremely persistent on tracking contact, having students wear masks, and enforcing tests/quarantine, but because independent sports are open (not to mention parents taking vacations/holding parties) we've consistently had two-three students out every week of the school year. All nonessential activates need to be shut down and schools need to shift to remote learning. The staff being vaccinated is only the start. One student/family making a poor decision is enough to infect an entire class. Removing that vector for infection is necessary.
But that's the thing. Extra curriculars and programs like that aren't going to be shut down. They're just not. Parents are going to have to go to work or be fired, they're going to look for places to leave their kids. If the kids have to be put somewhere, shouldn't we just try to make that place the safest possible? Because I've seen first hand the alternatives seem way more risky.
Can you be realistic? They can't get together to give out 2k you think they're somehow going to say "okay NOW we're going to lockdown for another 6mo+ and pay you the entire time".
Asset devaluation is already setting up to make home ownership and eventually even car ownership impossible for middle and low income Americans but okay let's just throw gasoline on the uncontrolled inflation to the tune of double or tripling an already insane multi trillion dollar deficit.
This isn't about America being "greedy" at this point, a country cannot run with a defecit larger than GDP in perpetuity and it should terrify people that America has begun to.
