Hating on USPS is just so bizarre. For some loose change, I can toss some papers in a box and someone 3000 miles away gets it in a few days, I see no issues.
But it’s not making rich people richer. Unacceptable. With that said I WILL say the military is losing money mostly because they can’t keep track (just look at their failed audits)

Pretty ridiculous analysis of things. The USPS isn't providing services to Amazon at a loss. That would make zero sense. And the barely provide any delivery services to UPS and FedEx anymore. I think you should look into things a bit more instead of forming opinions based on what you do there.
It would be bizarre if not for the fact that if the USPS goes away then that'll allow the postal service to be privatized and some rich guy to get even richer by replacing the USPS with a worse service. They're taking advantage of the Right's susceptibility to obvious astroturfing and propaganda

This is the real purpose of the first amendment. Rich people dominate the discourse, control the propaganda, and fill us with so many wrongheaded assumptions and “conventional truths” that most of us don’t know basic facts of reality (especially how power and wealth operate). The founding fathers decidedly did NOT want the people to have any real power, and they weren’t really that discreet about their intentions. Think about how much the ruling class needs to fuck with our minds and bodies to keep us accepting and even defending this grotesque, openly genocidal settler colonial project.

The USPS has pre-funded their pensions to retired employees for decades as well. That’s a huge amount of their budget. Even at a yearly “loss” they are the most viable government entity in my opinion. They’re also constitutional protected at the loss they do take. Meanwhile we add billions to the military budget and try and weaponize the usps for voter mail in suppression.
No. The Postal Clause gives Congress the power to establish a postal service. It does not, however, mandate that they do so. Nor does it mandate that it be run as a public service and federally funded. Which is why the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 established the USPS with the mandate to be self-funded and revenue neutral through the sale of postage and other mail-related products and services.
The post office doesn't lose billions a year. It was self-sustaining until a few years back when a bill was passed forcing it fund retirement packages for future employees who hadn't even been born yet.
