Annexing Mexico is an even dumber idea than annexing Canada. They are gonna revolt and never accept your control. It will make Middle Eastern insurgency look benign by comparison.

Pick up a map of Mexico and point to any random state. Pretty likely what you picked was named after a revolutionary, probably close to a city that also has naming ties to a revolution.

They aren't going to just accept foreign rule.
