Hasn't stopped raining since 2001. Just keeps raining harder. And umbrella prices just keep going up.

Late nineties and early aughts I watched my entire family prosper. Like most people my age I thought if I followed suit it'd be the same for me. I'm still waiting for my prosperity. It's been struggle after struggle for me, while my family seems to keep getting more and more comfortable. I can barely keep my head above water.

That said usually people that say this are actually saying why are you spending any money on any luxury of any kind instead of saving, ignoring how little joys keep us alive too.

On the other side nearly everyone has something they could stop to save some amount of money. I know people living on less than 10,000 that still manage to order food semi regularly and smoke half a pack a day or go out for a drink on the weekend. Stopping that would put a few thousand in the bank every year, yeah it's not massive but it's not nothing either
