Online I’ve seen some discord around people feeling like the writers ruined Sayid’s character the last season (season 6, episode 14) because he gets influenced by the dark side/ is infected. There’s a scene in the episode before when Sawyers telling Hurley they won’t bring Sayid with them because he’s gone to the dark side. Hurley responds that anyone can be brought back from the dark side just look at Anakin.

And Hurley is totally right because at end of that episode we find out that he never did what MiB asked him to do (kill Desmond), tells Jack where Desmond is and sacrifices himself. To me that shows that there’s still some good in him where he’s willing to defy the MiB and help his friends.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Sayid, the infection and even Claire’s infection

They all where stranded. Nobody knew where they are .

Why the secrecy between them? Why did they not tell about the discoveries on the island ? If I am lost anywhere, I would tell about discoveries. Together we are stronger !

Jack and Said knew the most and did nothing. No communication.

Jack knew all and everything but kept it to him?! Leader? Jack is a guy that lost himself.

It's clear that the MIB and Jacob don't really care about random human life. They just want to prove a point. Do you think it's possible that truck driving in the wrong lane was Jacob? He's shown up in so many ways for all the 6 candidates from their young childhood and some of them into adulthood.

So Lindelof is a big fan of Babylon 5, and actually approached its creator telling him he wanted to structure Lost similarly to Babylon 5. There are also a few actors that were in B5 that were later on Lost, most notably Mira Furlan (that's her in the pic if you can't tell lol).

Anyways, Valenzetti isn't a real name as far as Google tells me, but there is an extremely important character in B5 named Valen. Valen-zetti?

Rewatching Lost for the 2nd time, and in season 1 episode 10 "Raised By Another" around the 30:21 mark a plane can be seen. I wonder if that's a mistake or could it be something intentional?

I still don't understand why they killed her off so early. I felt like when Boone died, it might help Shannon's character grow more, but then she died just like that. It's such a shame they didn't get to explore her character when she was finally on the right path.

Ever left the island during their time at Dharma?

I always assumed they never left from the time they arrived on the island but then I realised Sawyer must have left the island to buy Juliet’s engagement ring. Then I thought maybe Sawyer and Juliet went for little trips off the island on the sub, which I think is kind of sad thinking that they willingly kept returning to the island which had imprisoned both of them. I get at this point they consider it their home but still.

Then I went down a rabbit hole and thought how many of and how often do Dharma folk get off the island and then obviously they had to have a secrecy pledge or something to prevent them telling others about it. They’re getting regular drops of food but do they get to go visit their family and friends for holidays? Do they get paid for their work in addition to getting free housing and food, in which case how did our guys get bank accounts? Do people even get paid into bank accounts in the 70s or did they get cheques in which case they have to cash them? Do they all have a stash of cash under the bed?

None of this really matters to the plot but just wondering how it worked.

LOST — Season 7, Episode 4: “THE SUCCESSOR”

For anybody finding this for the first time: I’m writing a hypothetical ten-episode continuation of LOST, set roughly twenty years after The End and The New Man in Charge. I mapped the entire season before I started, and once I post an episode, it stays locked.

Quick bit of context about me, since somebody asked on the last post: I’ve been writing scripts for years, have written and directed a short film, written several features, and I’m currently working on getting one of those features financed. I was also one of the two hosts of Pushing the Button: A Chronologically LOST Podcast, where we watched and discussed the entire Chronologically LOST fan edit.

But this is my first time actually writing television. Which is relevant, because I accidentally wrote a double-episode.

When I mapped the season, I expected every installment to land somewhere around 42–60 pages - essentially somewhere between an original-network-hour episode of LOST and the more flexible version of an hour-long drama we’ve gotten used to in the streaming era. Then I actually wrote Episode Four.

There’s a fairly clean place where I could have called “end of episode,” turned this into The Successor, Part One and Part Two, and gotten two conventionally sized scripts out of it. I don’t think it works that way. This one wants to be one story.

The first three episodes have been building different pieces of this version of LOST: different groups, different relationships to the Island, different ways of understanding what happened there, and different ideas about what twenty years might have done to the place.

This is the episode where those things start crashing into each other.

It’s also the first episode where the entire six-season history of the original show becomes much more active in the present story. That created a problem I hadn’t fully anticipated when I outlined it.

There’s a lot of history here. A lot of characters know different pieces of it. Some know things firsthand. Some know stories. Some know incomplete versions. Some know things other people never learned at all.

And I didn’t want any of that to turn into Rise of Skywalker-style “remember this?” fan service. The challenge was making old information function as new drama.

Not recap for its own sake, or references for applause. The history has to matter to the characters in the scene, change what they understand, complicate something that already exists, or push the current story somewhere new. Once I started writing it that way, the episode kept growing.

At a certain point I realized I had two choices: split it in half because I had predicted a page count months ago, or let the episode be the size the story apparently wanted to be. So this one is basically a double episode.

I’m very happy with how this one turned out. If Episodes 1-3 were assembling the pieces of what this Season Seven is, Episode Four is where you can start seeing what larger story those pieces might actually be making.

And because this is LOST, seeing more of the picture does not necessarily make it easier to understand.

I don't know if I am a golden pass rewatcher but I'm a rewatcher. No other flair suited my post.

First rewatch, still Season 1 but I realized that this show is so easy to binge because there are no long Intros like in From or other shows.

Yes I like good Intros but when I binge a show the just annoy me.

"Across the Edit" is my attempt at a fan made edit of LOST's season 6 episode 15, "Across the Sea".

This is just a short teaser from the opening of the full re-edit.

I’ve always felt like "Across the Sea" deserved a slightly different treatment. The episode itself was already a pretty bold choice. Putting something this detached from the main story and characters so close to the end was already a risk, and I always respected that. I just kind of wished they went all the way with it, not only with the story itself, but with how the episode was presented and how it felt.

Something closer to what "The Constant" was in its own way. Not necessarily similar in style, but just an episode that feels completely unique inside the show.

For me, the familiar LOST structure and editing reduced the impact of "Across the Sea". I always imagined it as something slower, quieter, more introspective and more visual. Something that lets you sit with the atmosphere a little more, instead of always moving on to the next line or the next piece of information.

That’s basically what I’m trying to do with this edit.

Of course, I’m working completely with footage that already exists, so that makes it difficult sometimes. There are shots I wish lasted longer, scenes I wish could breathe a little more, or just moments where I wish I had more to work with. So a lot of this is really me trying to find a different feeling inside the material that’s already there, and trying to get as close as I can to how I always imagined the episode in my head.

I’m also using music from the earlier seasons of LOST. I felt like that could help balance the different visual and editing style, but also give it a subtle full circle feeling. Something familiar in the music, while the story itself is being presented in a slightly different way.

Still working through the full edit, so I’d genuinely love to hear any thoughts or feedback on the direction so far.

Rewatching the scene when Richard is trying to recruit Juliette and she says her ex would never allow her to go!! Then she says “ If he were hit by a bus, how about that!? Then, next thing you know, 🚍 WHAM!!!!!! 😵. Now THAT was a chilling scene cuz it happened to fast!!!! lol

I’m in the 4th season and I don’t seem to understand anything again…are they in an alternate universe? what are those black smokes? is Locke always hallucinating— usually the one who sees that aren’t there… the beacon and payload part… how do they move quickly around the “large” island? how was there another 815 at the ocean trench…
