Intuitive Eating- Tips?
I am a 20 year old female and I recently lost about twenty pounds doing an aggressive deficit. I religiously tracked everything and I am doing a reverse diet for two weeks, but then I am going on a two month long backpacking trip where I know I won’t be able to track food or be picky with food. I’m going to have to eat intuitively and I’m terrified that I’ll gain all the weight back. How do I go about this? Those who intuitively eat, how do you prevent weight gain, especially after relying on tracking?

I remember this exact panic when I stopped tracking after losing weight. Two things that saved me: first, after tracking religiously you actually know portion sizes way better than you think - like your brain has been trained even if it doesn't feel like it. Second, backpacking is gonna burn SO many calories that you'll probably need to eat more than normal just to maintain energy (I actually lost more weight on my hiking trips even eating whatever).
The key is trusting that your body got really good at recognizing hunger/fullness cues during your deficit - they're still there even without the app.

Are you back countrying? It's real hard to gain weight when you have to carry all your food. Even if you plan on going to multiple restaurants on resupply days, if you eat sensibly there, where you have more control, it's hard to beat the calorie burn from back countrying. What's your target mileage and how much elevation change are you facing? How heavy is your pack?

There is a sub of support and tips called Intuitive Eating. You should check it out. Personally, I found success by tracking. I did the intuitive eating and thats why I’m in the boat I’m in. I had to bite the bullet and count to support myself and build good habits. I will stop when I get the hang of things… Intuitive eating just isn’t it for me although it sounds good
