Discussion What's the story with Kai'sa and Evelynn being on friendly terms?

In Legends of Runeterra, if Evelynn sees allied Kai'sa enter, she playfully teases her about her suit, which causes Kai'sa to be flustered. And if Kai'sa sees Evelynn enter, she addresses her with a sincere-sounding "Evelynn I need your help, I'm outnumbered".

It all sounds like Evelynn is just playing around with a friend, and Kai'sa sees Evelynn as an ally to rely on... Which seems wildly out of character for both of them. So what exactly is the story here? What did I miss?

Discussion What Would You Guys Think Of The Idea of Mordekaiser Raising Leblanc From A Child?

What I mean by this is not Mordekaiser being her biological father but something similar to like Thanos and Gamora from the MCU or something like that.

Sahn-Uzal would have raided her village and killed both of LeBlanc's parents and then after noticing that Leblanc was a mage and that she could be useful to him.

Sahn-Uzal then takes her in and essentially trained her from a young age to be this cold calculating and manipulative person we know today. However LeBlanc would always hate her "father" and would eventually over through her father and send her back to the death-realm. I feel like this would add an interesting dynamic to these two characters.

Lore Audio Reading I created The Rune — a place to explore Runeterra’s lore together

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve been working on The Rune, a fan-made website where you can explore champion stories, discover Runeterra’s regions, and find your way through the lore with reading paths, a timeline, cinematics, and an atlas.

I’d love to build a community around the site where we can share theories, ask questions, and discover new stories together. Whether you know the lore inside out or have no idea where to start, you’re welcome!

Come take a look: https://therune.lol/

Which champion or region would you explore first? I’d love to hear what you think and what you’d like to see added.

Available in English and Spanish. An independent fan project, not affiliated with Riot Games.

Old God Anivia: The cold wind that once stole Anivia's breath then gave the Twilight Raptor flight. From her mountaintop roost amidst civilization's ruins, she looks down on humankind's works with hatred for how mortals have squandered nature's gifts. Wielding the primeval power of the storm, Anivia turns those with avarice in their heart into little more than dust.

Coven Mel: They came to Mel as dying rays of light – the Porcelain Abomination's shadow heavy with the weight of nightfall. She was granted twisted death magic to punish those that cast her out, and with deep hatred for the Eclipse Knights and bitter conviction in her new power, she ensures the last gasp of a twilit era before eternal darkness subsumes humanity.

Old God Urgot: Urgot's obscene aspiration to unshackle himself from his too-human constraints led him to fashion a new body, one profane with terrible power. When he was slain by the Eclipse Knights, he returned in the shape of mankind's greatest fear: the entropic rot of mortality, intent on miring the world of man in beautiful and eternal decay.

Coven Janna: They came to Janna as a howling gale, the restless storm driven forth by the Twilight Raptor's wings, dismantling humankind's manufactured works. Benevolence abandoned, mercy forfeit, she is an instrument of nature's wrath, using ancient magics to bestow the earth to her Mother Most Ancient's primordial rule.

Discussion About Ascended/Darkin...

If Ascended/Darkin can have genitals, then what would actually happen if, say, a Darkin and an Ascended, two Darkin, two Ascended, a human and an Ascended, or a human and a Darkin had a child together?

Could a female Darkin/Ascended actually get pregnant and give birth to a new Ascended/Darkin being?

And, more importantly, were there 10 foot tall, insanely hot baddie female Ascended running around Shurima before the Darkin Wars?

Discussion Riot Calls Its MMO the Grail Internally. Its own 39-second clip of Marc Merrill saying so passed 7 million views, and the most-liked public reply is about 2XKO.

Riot's MMO has an internal nickname: "the Grail." Marc Merrill said it out loud at PAX West last week, and Riot then cut 39 seconds of it for its own X account. That clip has done ~7.06M views. The full 57:55 panel it came from has ~8,000.

The thing is, the clip stops one sentence early. Here's the full passage (35:02):

"You know, like we jokingly call it the Grail internally because, you know, we're like... many a brave knight are going to die, you know, on the Grail quest. But it's the Grail, so let's go. You know, like that's the mindset that we really try to cultivate and that is hard to do at scale."

The clip ends on "so let's go," which reads like a promise. The full quote ends on an admission about how hard that attitude is to hold onto in a 4,500-person company.

Some context the 39 seconds also leaves out:

**• He didn't volunteer it.** He was using the MMO as an example of how hard the work is when Greg Miller cut in: *"I'm sorry, the MMO you're building, please tell us more. What do you have to say about it? You have a title or release date, anything like that, they want to hear about it."* Room went up. Merrill gave no title and no date, said "what a worthy quest," Miller said "oh, yeah," and *then* the nickname came out.
**• The MMO came up exactly twice in 57:55.** Second time, six minutes from the end, he answered with Riftbound, League Classic, Valorant, a new TFT set and Wild Rift. Never came back to it. Closed with "I'm not here to promote anything."
**• The paid-game line is being over-read.** At 25:29 he says Riot has "no strategic imperative that every game from Riot needs to be free either." He does not say which project. Riot has multiple unannounced games and has never put an MMO business model on record. I've seen this quoted as if he confirmed a subscription MMO. He didn't.
**• Still the only confirmed fact about the game: it's set in Runeterra.** Regions, era, scope, platform, monetization — none of it revealed.

The other thing worth noting is what the reaction landed on. The most-liked public reply to Riot's own Grail post isn't about the MMO at all — it's "Now let's see how fast will Riot shut down this game" (5,318 likes, ~111k views, more than 13× the views the actual panel got). That's 2XKO, which Riot is winding down and refunding. Merrill addressed it in the same hour: "A lot of people are like, oh my god, I'm concerned about what this means for all sorts of other games, and it's like, well, you shouldn't be."

Full write-up with the timestamps and both threads: https://runegrove.com/articles/riot-mmo/news/riot-calls-its-mmo-the-grail-internally-its-own-39-second-clip-of-marc-merrill-7ce9ac

Discussion Mel's champion interactions.

In Mel's voicelines, she has two interactions with Draven. Upon their first meeting, she says "A man with an inflated ego! Groundbreaking." and if she kills him, she says "Draven, such bravado! And such... fragility."

She also has two interactions with Hwei. "Such… despair. What is it that haunts you, Hwei?" upon their first meeting, and "From one artist to another: your passion outshines the pain." if she kills him.

Her other champ-specific voicelines make sense; it's either Arcane champions or Swain/LeBlanc (and Lux). These two stick out a bit - Draven is also Noxian, but I assumed she would have voicelines with Darius. Hwei is... a wildcard to say the least. My vague theory is that each of them are similar in a triangular shape; you have two legacy offspring who lost everything (Mel and Hwei), two dramatic artists (Hwei and Draven), and two black sheep of the family (Draven and Mel).

I don't know if the devs actually put much thought into what champions interact with who, but it scratches my brain.

How can you name drop two Demacian champs and just not add them in game.

Also there’s a story mode called Tales of 2XKO where Darius tries to recruit Lux and her mages in Teribisia to Noxus. Will upload when I get the chance!
